    Default LeGrand suspension parts

Attached are pics of the upper control arm parts for my LeGrand MK10 project. Can anyone identify where the cup and ball joint parts might have come from?? The car has Triumph uprights. I am sure they were sourced from something............thanks

The ball looks like it could have started life as a clutch linkage pivot stud from a small block Chevy, like this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Camaro-Fireb...a6d907&vxp=mtr

The control arm is very similar to that on my old Lola. You might be able to replace the ball and socket with a spherical bearing and bolt.

The shank of that stud seems to have a taper on it, like a regular production car ball joint. Could be someone just found a ball joint or tie rod end with sizes they liked, and used the guts...if so, lotsa luck or do as Bob says, and convert it

I believe the ball joint in question is a Lockheed part, used by Mclaren and others up to the early 70's. I came across the same problem with finding parts for the front ball joints on a 1972 Leda AM29 Supervee I am restoring. I finally had a precision machinist make the parts I needed, by copying the old parts. If you search this forum for 'Lockheed Joints' you may get some leads.

    Default Legrand Joints

I have a Legrand MK 21 that uses the same joints, sometimes called Robertson. I have seen them on Lotus 22 and Brabham 29`s. They were once supplied by Hewland, but no longer, so I had my CNC machinist make up some sets, outer, lower inner, upper cap, and tapered ball, and straight threaded lower ball. I know someone out there must know what they were from origonally. If you can`t find any, I will be back home in April, and can get you a price.
