Default 3" belts or something thinner/HANS-friendly?

    So I need new belts.

The Hawke has Crow Enterprizes 3" belts, which I am very happy with.. However, the HANS sometimes will let a belt slip over a little. I had a wreck this year where everything stayed in place, but I'd like to have something a little more for-sure.

The new adjustable HANS has bigger, removable winglets... but, I dont have one yet.

Who makes a 2.5" or 2" shoulder belt that isnt $600 for a set of belts?

Anyone do any HANS mods to keep the belt inboard all the time?

    Am I worrying too much?

    regards,

    Mike

How close are the inside edges of your belts to to each other? The Hans instructions say 3 to 4" maximum. The belt anchor mounts should be horizontal to the hans on your shoulders or 20 degrees below. There is also a very informative IMIS presentation on the page.

Crow will make shoulder belts with a 2" wide segment for HANS. Most other belt makers will as well.

Narrow mount and tight is the way to be.

I went from 3"->2"->3" and can't tell a difference between them, but I have all three mounted at the recommended angle and no more than 3" on center of the belts. No slipping.

Remember there was no "hans" 2" belts when the device was first introduced. 3" belts work perfect if they are mounted correctly.

    Default 3" belts

On more than a few cars, we've had to move the original shoulder belt location, often up and at times, closer together. For that reason, most of my local customer still use the 3" wide belts (Willans is popular). The 2" shoulders are nice, but yes, you are looking at belts in the $460.00 range, because they build them with their lighter GP hardware.

Any opinions on the double shoulder belt system, with a 3" strap under, and 2" strap over the HANs?

Thanks for the replies... Yes - the belts are mounted correctly... put in a bar specifically to match the mounting requirements.

Maybe I just feel like they're slipping off...

the mounting in the new car might be a non-issue..But, I wouldnt mind the 2" belts if they're just as safe..

Crow got back to my email:

We do make Hans type harness that is 3'' and tapers down to 2''.
You could have your present harness rewebed and change to Hans type.
Cost would be $32.50 plus ups charges.
    Thanks
