    Default F1000 Promotional Video

Has anyone made a video that introduces F1000 in a neat way? A film aimed at folks who know nothing of the category, etc.

Specifically, I'm looking for exterior race footage, anything showing crowded grids, close racing, etc. The most photogenic stuff I've seen is from a Double Nat at Kent; the start of the Mosport pro-race, some Gulf 1000 series footage taken at the Dubai F1 circuit. Am I missing anything good?

    Thanks,

    Chris

PS: Also, does anyone have a link to the Runoffs footage from last year's race in the rain at RA?

Chris: With your resume, I'd bet that if you wanted to take on such a project, Speedcast would most likely be willing to share their footage with you.

    Default Thanks, you guys ---

Any chance that anyone has any private footage? The stuff I saw from Kent, for instance, was pretty damned good!

    Thanks again,

Talk to Nicholas Belling. He might have some in car stuff you could use. I have a bunch of video but the quality is pretty poor, GoPro pre HD not so good.

You might check with Clark Cambern at speedcasttv.com. He might have footage from the Mosport pro race but I'm guessing that he would want to get paid for it so he could salvage something from that weekend, though.

This is something that I've been wanting to do since the first race in 2007 but could never muster the resources to do it right.

I've got some incredible incar from the past few years, just not smart enough to edit it and put it up.
As far as track side is concerned - THIS sounds like your new project!
Clark's vid from Mosport in May is about the closest to what you are describing.

    Chris,

We are actually working on doing something like this for marketing purposes as well
As our own webcasts for the West Coast series and posting them on our website and other sites like You Tube. It's been in the plans since 2011 but we lacked resources to do it. We're still looking at it and it might actually finally become a reality next year. We are definitely looking at raising our game next year after the somewhat down year we had this year.

And Tom -- the really neat way of GETTING video product on the cheap is by use of college age film-students. They'll usually work for expenses (you know, if the subject's exciting enough)... and some of them are amazingly good at the work. Arty, musical -- cool!

    "The Shadow Do!"

Everyone should take great advantage of this kind offer by sending their video material to Shadow.

This could advance the FB cause greatly!

Default We'll need an FTP site

The files are just too large to send as email attachments.

Anyone have a server we can post them to?

Strange, I could have sworn I posted on this before Runoffs.

I can aggregate them on my webserver and we can go from there - e-mail me for details.

Mike Beauchamp uploaded his video from Runoffs, as well as some track-side video from some students from U of W that were there for a film class of some variety.

I also have Phil DeLaO's video from ARRC a while back that Stefan sent.

Everybody else, if you have video to share, let me know.

Once we have it aggregated, I can stick it on a memory stick/DVD/HDD/Whatever, and send it to whoever's doing the video work.

    Sound reasonable?

Alright all you all-talk-and-no-video F1000 drivers.

    I've got video from:
    Mike Beauchamp
    John LaBrie
    Phil DeLaO/Stefan Dwornik
    Jake Latham

and that's it. Where are the usual suspects?

    Dixon?
    Coop?
    Belling?
    Coop?
    Richard F?
    Coop?

    Default Ah!

    Good for you, Jake.

As I've said, I think a lot might be done if people were to enthusiastically cooperate on putting together a good video. Without exposure, even the good people at Shadow will have to little to show in return for their kind support of F1000.

Come on, folks, this can be a very good thing!

    Thanks,

    Chris

    Guys -

YouTube is only a streaming service.

You can't download/capture the actual file without installing almost universally dodgy capture software. I don't really want to go through that brain damage. If you have a video, then whoever does the editing will need the raw file, not just a YouTube link.

I'll make another go-round of looking at the capture/download software out there and see if there's a reasonable one these days for those that don't want to go the file transfer route, but for your guys' part at least, choose a few videos you think are highlight-worthy rather than posting a channel of 50 videos to sift through eh?

close racing, race starts, and spins are best viewing, not just "here's me doing 25 laps in a race by myself"

Default What's the easiest process (for all involved)?

I have some video, and some of it *might* be interesting enough to send. But, it's a challenge finding the time to view it all to see what might be good.

Then, I assume it would need to be edited before sending, because I wouldn't expect someone to sit through a lot of my non-exciting video. There's more time & effort.

But, assuming I do those steps above, is there an easy way to get it to who needs it? Can you/they download it from Vimeo? Drop Box? I've struggled with this a few times and it's always been a challenge.

Uploading to an FTP site sounds easiest, but I don't see above if that was set up.

http://ge.tt/ this is the site that we use to transfer our music (not pirated, all originals, please don't arrest us). First 2G is free, don't know what the cost is above that.
