Default Giants Despair Hillclimb, FV results

The Giants Despair Hillclimb in Wilkes-Barre PA started way back in 1906. It is the oldest Hillclimb in the USA. John Pitman was driving his Formula Vee again this year. John is the only driver that raced in the first event in 1906 and still runs today. The top 3 this weekend were:

1st John Pitman, Vector GB-1 with a personal best time of 55.801 and 1st place.
    2nd Joe Katarsky, Citation
    3rd Keith Bower, Caldwell D-13

Joe and Keith gave the old man a good run.

Mt Washington Hillclimb was first run in 1904

    Eagle Rock

The Eagle Rock Hill Climb is the oldest recorded official hill climb ever run in the United States. Started in 1901 in what was then West Orange, New Jersey, the first race was organized by none other than Willam K. Vanderbilt Jr. It lasted for several years until safety concerns by public officials closed it down in 1906. Anniversary races were held in 1951,1956, and 1976 but were more ceremonial then competitive.

How about the oldest Hillclimb that is still running?
When Giants Despair had it's 100th in 2006 research was done and they were told it was the oldest? The fastest car of the event received a trophy "The Vanderbuilt Cup".
Any how, it is an old event. John Pitman is old. We call him the Old Hillclimg Guy.
