Pacific F2000/FF Super Series Comes Home to Buttonwillow for Rounds 5 and 6
Buttonwillow, Calif. (May 16, 2012) – The Pacific F2000/Formula F Super Series Championship Presented by Corsa Car Care returns to the familiar surroundings of Buttonwillow Raceway Park in Buttonwillow, California for rounds 5 and 6 on May 19th and 20th.

Celebrating its ninth season the series welcomes back four of its veteran drivers to the competition this weekend during the Cal Club Spring Double Regional weekend.
Joining the series leading pair of Bobby Kelley and Camden Geise at Dave Freitas Racing will be former USF2000 and Star Mazda driver Chris Hundley in the #62, Limousine Connection Van Diemen. Hundley last drove in the Pacific F2000 series in 2008 and is looking to have a positive impact upon his return.

Bob Negron the 2011 Master Class (drivers 51 and up) Champion is scheduled to return to the series having missed both the opening rounds 1 and 2 at Willow Springs and the more recent rounds 3 and 4 at Miller Motorsports Park. Negron is now poised to defend his crown in his #9 Terri Negron Web Design Van Diemen despite his late return.

Nick Kodenko, now having completed his education and the third of the returnees, is back with his #31 Kodenko Automotive, Kodenko Jeans, Redline Oil, Associated Tire Van Diemen. Kodenko had his best finish, a fourth place and just off the podium, in 2008 and looks to shake off any rust this weekend.

Finally, long time series participant, Al Salvo brings back his familiar #23 as he campaigns his Miracle Sealants, Corsa Car Care, PR1 Motorsports Mygale. The Arcadia resident, who last appeared in the series at the final two rounds in Las Vegas in 2007, looks forward to a good result as he returns to his home track.

Dave Freitas Racing’s dynamic duo of Bobby Kelley and Camden Geise, first and second in the championship are looking forward to the resumption of their battle for the title. Kelley in the #21 A&B Equipment, Van Diemen had two second place finishes at the previous rounds in Utah and Geise in the #6 DFR Van Diemen also scored another podium finish to boost his points tally. They are joined by the fourth DFR competitor Peter West in the #99 Frank Monise Motors Van Diemen.

Master Class point leader Les Phillips driving his #2 Swiss Implants, Porterfield Brakes Van Diemen is looking to extend his point lead at his home track.

PR1 Motorsports who along with Salvo will field entries for Camren Kaminsky in the #34 PR1 Van Diemen and Peter Thomas in the #7 Refrigeration Control Company Van Diemen.

The fourth entry for PR1 Motorsports is 2011 F2000 series champion Conner Ford, now running a Mygale/Honda in the Formula F class sponsored by The Keniston's, JF Excavating & Grading, Western Nevada Supply and Sparco USA. Ford has won three of the four rounds and has high expectations this weekend.

Ed Erlandson, the only other driver to taste the victory champagne in the Formula F class with a win in round 2 at Willow Springs brings his #8 Art by Eli, Porter Racing, Loyning, Goodyear Swift DB6/Ford back to challenge Ford for the Formula F honors; after missing rounds 3 and 4 while he claimed a pair of victories in the BF Goodrich Super Tour Double National at Buttonwillow and setting a new Formula F lap record.

Also entered in the Formula F class are Neil Roberts in the #12 Keenan Honda, ThinkFast
Engineering, ThinkFastBook.com Swift/Honda and Jerry Andersen in the #0 Swift DB1/Ford.

In its second year is the Formula F Super Series which is made up of current model Formula F (formerly Formula Ford) cars with either the 1600cc Ford ‘Kent’ engine or the newly added 1500cc Honda ‘Fit ‘ engine. Chassis include Swift, Van Diemen and Mygale.

The series format provides several races within the race as competitors battle for top honors in Expert, Master and Formula F classes as well as for overall victories.

The single-seat, open-wheel F2000 cars with their 140+ horsepower Ford Zetec engines are capable of speeds in excess of 140 mph. All cars run on Cooper Tires supplied by Sierra Tire with a single set used for the entire weekend adding the element of tire management to the race strategy. VP Racing fuels also is an official provider, along with Corsa Car Care, Porterfield Brakes, Wine Country Motorsports Aerocraft Fiberglass & Design, Williams Racing Developments and Buttonwillow Raceway.
