Winter Series Round 7: Mont Tremblant - April 17th
Last race of the season and we visit St. Jovite. Turnouts have been dwindling down to the usual 5 or 6, but this track is a lot of fun with great elevation changes. Even if you can't get a lot of practice in or not in the points running, come out and race. This race will be 24 laps with no stop.

Well, the race for 2nd place in the points is good at least
And Stephen, I'm not helping you any more... My "baseline time" is supposed to hold up for at least a week before it gets beaten. Not get crushed within an hour of me going to bed.

LOL
I didn't get that memo about your baseline time!
I am assuming that is tongue-in-cheek for the following reasons:
1) you never leave any time I do up for very long! And you top it with fewer laps, like 4 compared to my 200! And then you lower that by another second when you qualify!
2) You warned me it might happen!
3) interestingly that time wasn't set with anything you suggested, accept maybe where to look for some extra time! Just yet another different setup.
4) It was 1hour and 43 minutes, so it took way longer!!
5) It just sort of happened.
Besides you told us you had a long day, and needed a rest so I thought I would take some load off your shoulders!
No problem, guys. It was nice to have several cars still interested for the last race of the season.
Stephen and I had an awesome battle going on for what seemed like a dozen laps. It all ended when I put my left corner into a tire wall. I don't know what it is with this FA, but I was good for at least a severe "off" or two during any given race this season. Maybe it was how I had the car setup, I dunno... There's never enough time to test.
Congrats to the podium and points winners.

Thanks Keith for running this! It was awesome! I learned a lot from these lower powered cars. I have tried to participate for several years now. I did one or two races about 2 years ago but never had a chance to come back until this year. Congratulation to Tye on his championship, and to all the participants for giving it their best!
My race was definitely exciting!
Starting from 3rd place, I was rammed into the wall just past the start line. I was told I had suspension damage and I was in 6th place, 2nd last! I had no idea how the car was going to handle or whether the damage would negatively impact the tire wear or speed. I set off after the pack, but it was touch & go for the first few laps with cold tires and my rythm off. So I just started to get at it, but the two Joe's were feeling feisty! I managed past and then set off after Keith and Jerry. I managed to nibble away at them until Keith caught Jerry and then I started to catch up a bit faster. Once we got past Jerry the chase was on and just kept going lap after lap. Every once in while Keith would have a tail wingle or I would enter a corner too fast, but eventually we were nose to tail on lap 15 and I managed to get alongside him when he went wide in 2-3. I was beside through 4-5, but on the outside at 5 and not able to carry it through to the lead! On we went until lap 17 when I finally made it past when Keith went agricultural just past the pedistrian bridge. We carried around on the next lap and I had the rears lockup for corner 8 which allowed Keith past mid corner. Then on lap 18 I almost got him back again at corner 8, but he had a wider line and faster exit speed. On we went until lap 21 when I am not sure what happened in corner 14, but it appeared like Keith was trying to protect the inside and got really loose on the bump in the middle, went to the grass on the inside and wide on the exit allowing me to get past again. Off we went again nose to tail for another go until lap 22 and corner 10 where you have to stay in tight and Keith had an unfortunate off, wide into the tire barrier to end the chase. It was great while it lasted. I have never had a road race that close for that many laps.
Thanks Keith for the challenge it nerve wracking but still fun!
Thanks to all the others who came to race and to Tye for helping me with some tips.
I never expected in a million years to be able to finish this well!
Hopefully we can do it again sometime.
You guys are welcome. Next year, we may be running rF2 so get your hardware in check and your license purchased! There are several tracks available at the moment and there are due to be more by the time Winter rolls around.
I was pleasantly surprised on how nice this version of St Jovite was. After watching the Star Racer series on TV, I was anxious to drive Mont Tremblant since it appeared to have such drastic elevation changes (which I love in a track).

Yeah, I can put Mosport on it. I don't remember what version is on it.

Just got home, downloaded both tracks (Mosport 1.3 from rFc, and the Jani '09 v1.1 from no grip)
Neither version really incorporates how the concrete patches affect you in the corners, and both are off slightly in 5
the 09 version is definitely more realistic looking, better updates... while the rFc version seems to have a few more of those realistic quirks of the track, but I think has a bit too much grip in the corners as a whole compared to the noGrip download (irony much)
As a comparison, I ran 3 laps with identical setup and did a 1:19.628 with the rFc version, and a 1:20.792 with the noGrip track.

After tearing the LF off, I watched the action between Keith and Stephen and John and Jerry, some really good racing. Congrats guys, it kept me glued to the monitor.
Racing at Le Circuit Mont Tremblant is on my bucket list. I live in SoCal, so I would have to fly there and rent a racecar. Not trailering 7,000 miles round trip. You guys are lucky!
Get a sim wheel and download a copy of rFactor and the track and you'll be as lucky as us!

Hey Keith, which download of the Nordshcleife is on the server? I have 5 different versions and not sure which one it it (trying to not load too many tracks on the new machine)
Also, could you check and see if the results page from the last race could be put up at well...
Thanks
