    Default Aim questions

I have an Aim Mychron 3 Gold installed on my FV. I'm having an issue with the beacon receiver. I'm not getting any signal from the beacon. The batteries are fresh on the beacon and all the wiring is connected. Everything else works, RPM, temps, etc...just no lap times. Any ideas or suggestions on what to check or try?

Does it bunch up all info?
Do you get it register full lap completed?
I would double check wiring ,all wire connections have to be soldered.
If there is even 100 of a second of info disconnect lap times will bunch up and be scattered.
    hope this helps .
If not you can always contact AIM directly for advise.
Best customer service i have ever received.

Does it work in your garage when you pass the beacon by the receiver?

It does not work in the garage if I pass the receiver by, I've tried that many times. All other info works but nothing comes up at all for lap times.

Also be sure the system is set to receive the beacon signal in the software. (both that it is set to receive as well as the obscuring time being reasonable)

Another thing to check is the beacon delay interval time set in the software. This is designed to prevent double hits if you pass two beacons set up on track near each other, but if you try to record a lap shorter than the delay time, you will get no lap.

Get a new AIM Solo. It works on GPS, does data logging, and doesn't need a beacon.

You could move to GPS with the add on for less than going to a Solo.

I had the same problem with my AIM Mychron3 Gold and it turned out to be a faulty patch cable. Try switching out the patch cable with a known good cable and see if that gives you a different result.

    Default switch sides

Make sure the receiver is on the same side of the car that the pits/beacon is.

Took me a while to figure that out one day......................

Why not buy a new car with working Aim system? Much easier than having to install a new system or fix a minor problem with current system.

My obscuring time is set at 80 seconds. How do I know that its set to receive the beacon signal?

I think that is your issue. If you pass the beacon by the receiver twice in less than 80 seconds it will not record a lap time. So you could try to reset the obscuring time to Zero and try it again just to check your receiver.
