Default FS: 2004 Mygale SJO4 Zetec

I recently took a trip with my 5yr old daughter that really changed my outlook on how I want to be spending my free time & money. We went to Keystone for her 1st ski trip and it was just amazing. Can't wait to go back. Having a 2 year-old son and a 5yr old daughter it might be the time to put racing on hold- soon they won't want to spend time with Dad, but now they do. So I'll toss this out and see what happens...

This is likely one of the nicest, cleanest F2000 Zetec cars around. She was driven by Mike Forest in the 2005 Pacific F2000 Chamionship where they dominated the series and won the championship. FWIW, the runner up was also a Mygale piloted by Hildebrand. The cars have a history of beating Van Diemens and an unbelievable build quality. Parts and spares are not a problem with an established owner's group and factory support at Brian Herta.

The car was not driven in 2006, and was sold to a private racer in 2007 who then lost his job and only ran the car twice. I purchased the car in 2010 and started going through every little part...

    As it stands now-

    6 weekends on Quicksilver Zetec
6 weekends on WRD LD200 Gearbox
3 weekends on HAAS rebuilt Dynamic dampers
New (no time) AP aluminum calipers
New rear rotors, 3 weekends on front rotors
    New brake pads
    New Floor (7075 anodized aluminum)
Wired for radios (antenna, push to talk, harness for Motorola radios)
    New throttle cable (Averill)
3 weekends on rear sway cable (Averill)
Adjustable front & rear sway bars
    LED rain light
All fluids new (brake, clutch, oil, coolant, gearbox)
1 race on new Extreme 30 drycell battery
1 race on FIA Stroth Harness
    Nomex covered bead seat
Two Contour cameras- one facing the front and one facing the rear)
AIM MXL Pista with GPS (for track mapping and no beacon lap times)
Comprent rebuilt the sidepod floors and replaced the apex joint on the shift linkage
    Gyrodynamics diffuser
All bearings freshly removed/ cleaned and repacked or replaced.
Axles removed and tripods cleaned and greased
    New Alternator belt
Fresh paint by a high end paint shop
    F2000 Radials (stickers)

    Also included:

Complete spare nose and front wing assembly with a spare shock cover
Complete spare rear wing assembly ready to bolt on
    Spare diffuser
2nd set of Jongbloed wheels with bias tires
    many gear sets
    camber shims
    rolling chassis stand
    shock tool
    springs
    Mygale specific hardware

Buyer will also have the option of purchasing the following:

24' pace trailer with A/C, awning, cabinets, pitpal storage
    0 mile fresh Zetec engine
    Setup platform and scales
    flag alignment system

I know many adds say the car is "race ready" but few ever are. This one IS. The car was just completely gone over this winter with the floor replacement and every part was cleaned and inspected. It needs nothing and is really one of the best zetec cars available.

I am planning to participate in the March national at Road Atlanta if the car does not sell- if that does happen add a weekend to everything and the car won't have stickers anymore.

Price below I'll post some more pics soon but for now:

These things are built like tanks compared to the VD. When J.R. rolled his at Buttonwillow doing about 100 you had to look close to see any real damage. Whenever one of PR1's Mygales had contact with our VD's, Bobby's cars would drive to the finish and our cars ended up on the hook.

You have to see Sean's work to imagine how sanitary this car is. It could be in a surgical operating room.

    Default Another thought?

    Sean,

Maybe it's time to put racing on hold, maybe it's time to share racing with your kids? I grew up in a racing family and loved every minute of my time with Dad -- we are still close and he helps me as I return to racing after 20+ years off (from my racing for a variety of reasons). It used to be a family sport. I'd like to think it can still be -- I'm hoping to keep my kids involved and have done so via karts and in vintage racing. Maybe you can find the appropriate avenue to do all in balance?

By the way, love skiing, but I'd rather be racing. Just more food for thought.

    Cheers, PK

If you love skiing and live in GA there's a serious mismatch going on. Move to CA - ski one weekend, race the next, go diving or surfing on the third!

Living in Ga is actually pretty good considering that is where my job is... and I'm quite sure that some of the play money might be spent on an arrive and drive a couple times a year. Yes, when the kids are ready for karting and if they have an interest MicoMax here we come.

As pointed out above the Mygales are VERY well built and you are not going to find a cleaner nicer car for sale anywhere. Not a spot of grease/ dirt on this car, she starts right up and runs perfectly. It's like a new car.

Forgot to mention you'll get a second set of fresh injectors (from Quicksilver) and a fitted car cover with the sale. Non race car trades and offers considered...

    Default My dream car...

These cars are built incredibly well. The craftsmanship is well beyond the VDs. Now that they have local support I would expect to see them move to the pointy end of the grid.

    Nice car...

    Default Mygale

Biggest problem I have had with my Mygale is trying to tune the suspension, car just goes where you point it........even in a four wheel drift........how do you tune that?

Believe so, unless I need over 4' neg! I've got the fronts at 2.5' and the rears at 1.75'

I'll take some temps on Thursday and see where they need to go.

Sweet! Nice job you did this winter.

Also nice that Mygale doesn't have the starter buried in the exhaust pipes.

Beautiful car !!! Over my budget... I race karts with my son... You should consider it, kids start at five... Reasonably inexpensive... Great family sport... My son is turning 13, I'm looking for an entry level Formula C for us to have fun in... We started racing karts when he was seven, enjoy and savor the time with your kids, time goes by fast !!!

Thanks racerdad and yes, hopefully my 2yr old will want to go that route.

FYI, Mike Eakin (Purple Frog above) has a nice Reynard that he is about to put up for sale- perfect entry level car for a lot less $$ than this one. Might want to send him a message or PM me and I'll give you his phone #.

I'm trying to talk Sean into racing at CMP end of March. By my figuring, if he races that beaut about 20 more times, i might be able to afford it.

    Dave,
I have two great 90 Reynards. The world famous Pollywog (2011 ARRC winner), and the unknown to the world top secret PFR "T" car. The "T" car motor comes refreshed out of the engine builder's shop tomorrow. Unfortunately Pollywog's motor has gone to the Happy Motor Hall of Fame in the sky yesterday at T10.
At this point probably both cars are for sale. But this is Sean's thread.

This car is not one of the nicest FC's I've ever seen. IT IS THE NICEST! Sean's level of prep is incredible and no expenses have been spared or shortcuts taken. Plus the Mygale design is so sweet.

[quote=carnut]I recently took a trip with my 5yr old daughter that really changed my outlook on how I want to be spending my free time & money.

In 1993 I came home from my 4th racing weekend in 6 weeks [USA and Central America] and my son was 'pac'in some ice skates to go to the rink - I did'nt even know he was (like his dad had) starting to skate and trying hockey ---- I immediately stopped racing, began coaching hockey from 1993 to 2004 (travel, highschool, AAU Qualifiers and Summer Olympics, and college) ... And my daughter began fastpitch softball and went to almost all of her games [travel and highschool, again, AAU Qualifiers and Summer Olympics, etc.] - Sometimes I would be coaching in Orlando and her games were in Tampa and we (wife and I) did the cross state run all was VERY VERY EXPENSIVE with no time or money to do kids sports and rac'in -- however, and ... respectfully to all others, Sean you are making the BEST decision of your (and more importantly their) life.

Jason joined the FSAE program in college (with John Benson) and they been at it in FF since - Steffie goes to driving school next years during her L2 student summer -Racing comes back - time with the kids does'nt.

This is an extremely clean car. Saw it up close & personal at Road Atlanta.

Rob is correct, assuming the 6'1 person does not also weigh 300lbs.

The SJ04 has more interior room than the late model Van Diemens. My bead seat has about 3" under my rear and I'm 5'11/ 170lbs. Plenty of shoulder room as well. Comfortable cars!
