    Default FV 50th in 2013

    Hello all,

I saw there were 5 classes of vees at the 45th anniversary: Current cars, Historic, Monoposto,Super Vee, and Formula First in attendance.
I have an Autodynamics D 13 my father bought new in kit form in 1976. I want to race it if I can fit into it-I last drove it in 1994... good thing I have a year to loose the weight.
I think it could run historic class : what are the rules for preparation: tires, etc. and what are the competitive cars in that class??? It is original -dual shock bilstein zero roll and has the updated front hoop that SCCA put in effect around 1978 timeline that matched main rollhoop to dash hoop.
How many attended the 45th and what is the expected turnout for the 50th???

    Thanks,
    Mike Winebrenner

I would call Fred Clark and ask about the rules. He would be most likely able to get you the info you would need. While you're at it you can get the date from him. I remember that it will be in Georgia at Roebling Roads again. The 45th was fun and currently plan to go for 50th. Most of the guys on the West Coast have plans to attend, but it really depends on the economy.

    Default not us...

Our car was never finished and/or raced until the early ninties, Dad stopped racing in 1978, and I went to my first driver school in 1993.

    Default 50TH

    Roger:

I believe Fred is attending the SCCA convention.

I can tell you that the 50th is planned for the first week in April, 2013

That's as much as I know right now.

Thanks Dietmar. I may trailer my car up there even though I won't be able to race. Sounds like a great weekend and only about 4 hours from home.

Fred is not a member on this board, but this is the info he send me when I asked.
    Steve, FV80
At present I’m waiting for an answer of H&N’s for those who are not required (around the world and here) to use them, from SCCA when I get it we will spring the Website. ( hopefully before the end on March)Terry said she would get it to me in the next week.
So here’s what we have to date. Event will be the first weekend in April, 2013 at Savannah, 3 days as ususal test day on Friday event on Sat., Sun.
Racing format depends on entries, but most likely will be like last time.

Vintage participation really depends on the organization. Some require a built by date say 1971 in CSRG, and others just want the car to comply with the configuration of the day. For example, your D-13 was built in one configuration for several years. As long as you prepare the car as originally built, most organizations don't have a problem. If you update the suspension, body work or worse yet, remove the fan shroud, you may not be able to run vintage.
The above post is for reference only and your results may vary. This post is not intended to reflect the views and opinions of SCCA and should not be considered an analysis or opinion of the rules written in the GCR. thanks, Brian McCarthy, BOD area 9.
