    Default 2011 F2000 Champion - Audette?

It's's been a good 2011 season - I miss being there. However, looking at the points standings after Lime Rock, I can see no scenario where Remy is not 2011 F2000 Champion. Did he not already lock it up? I might be missing something. Wouldn't be the first time.

    Good work all.....

If Chris takes pole, fast lap & the win in both races at Watkins Glen & Remy finishes 18th or worse in both races...

Remy's 2 drops are 31 points and 27 points. Chris is only dropping 1 point in each of his drops.

Working with John Walko Racing I've gotten to know Chris & his Dad. They are very nice people who work hard and love racing. Unfortunately for Chris, he has been in the wrong place at the wrong time a few times this year.

I've had courteous exchanges with Remy, but have not gotten to know him. I am impressed with his team & his driving. He has put forth an A+ effort this year and appears to have "made his own luck".

    Default Remy's drops

Thanks Barry. I'm thinking Remy could miss both Glen races and use those as his drops. If that's the case, his current 517 points holds up against Chris gathering ALL available points at the Glen.

    Audette - 517
    Livengood - 368 + 110 points possible from the Glen = 478

Difference = Audette by 39 points

    True?

    True!

    My bad math.

I dropped Remy's current lowest points & did not consider possible lower points at the Glen. With the max Chris can only get 476 for the season. (478 - 1 - 1)

I do believe Remy locked up the championship. Congratulations!

Now Chris has Tim Minor knocking on his gearbox for 2nd.... Tim's drops will be 1 x 2.

    The official website says:

    "Championship Points
Can be found here. Things are getting interesting, but this PDF will require a basic four-function calculator as drops are not calculated."

    I say:

Perhaps the calculation is not as simple as we think?

They have a big celebration planned for Watkins Glen & they don't want to ruin the "surprise"?

Perhaps "team orders" were used and penalties are to be assessed? (Joke: Audette is a one-car team)

Yes, Remy is the 2011 F2000 champion, and well done to him, Francois and the entire crew.
He was focused right from the first test at VIR in April.
Not to say he won't be trying to take another 110 points with a clean sweep at the Glen, but Chris Livengood, among others, will have something to say to that !
After LRP Race 2 I gave Remy a lift back from the podium ceremony to their truck on a golf cart and said congrats on the championship and his grin could not possibly have been any wider along with a sense of pressure relief in having accomplished his goal.
They are a class act all around.
The party and awards at the Glen on Sunday will be a great evening for all.

I got the last laugh on the PA system "He's going to think this is all great for Canada and everything - but we have the cup........"

Remy is a good guy - class act..... except for being a canadians fan....

Hey Matt. The Bruins may have the Cup, but now the F2000 Championship hardware is coming to Canada.

    Tres Bien Remy.

I heard the Pens had it rapped up this year. Remy better watch his back at the Glen and I'm talking off the track.

Nick Guy, or whoever you are. Remy has the title clinched. Period. End of discussion.

But... he and his family are true racers. They have an opportunity to race at a class track, against the largest field ever, so they don't sit on their hands, instead, they come down from Canada to race. Just to put a bit of spice on the whole deal, they don't pussyfoot around waiting on the banquet, Remy puts the car on the pole for tomorrow's first race.

Remy, and the whole Audette Racing group are one class act.

Let's look at Remy Audette's stats up to Yesterday morning:

Remy's average 2011 finish is 2.67, and qualifying is 3.67

In all of his stats since 2008; in races he started, he had an average finishing position of 4.2 and qualifying of 3.8

    WOW.

And only THREE finishes outside the top ten, and only ONE DNF.

So far, in 2011, Remy has 11 top fives in 12 races (2 more to go), five wins, eight podiums and four poles.

In all of his F2000 championship Series races, he had 31 top fives in 38 starts, and 35 top tens.

OBTW, all together, since 2008, Remy had eight poles.

    Pretty damn impressive.

We'll be honored to hand him the big trophy tomorrow night at the banquet.

My sincere apologies to Nick Guy. My comments were inexcusable.

Why Monty wrote, "Remy Audette, who will clinch the 2011 Championship when the green flag flies, is on pole." is beyond me. Probably a case of artistic license on Monty's part. By all calculations i have seen, Remy would have it if he didn't even show up at the Glen.

    Kevin,

That's not the only excitement you missed. While you were wrenching on Rob's car the Audettes were dressing for the Series end banquet.

Obviously there is a reason we love having the Audettes in the paddock.

I think the guy on the right is supposed to be "Happy" from the Seven Dwarfs.
