    Default Zink Z10

Im posting my Zink Z10B for sale. It has a new fuel cell as well as a decent amount of spares. Including 12 wheels, extra bodywork such as sidepods and nose. Spare suspension pieces and starter. Car is currently apart as I was waiting for the new cranks. I am willing to assemble the car after the rebuild in the next couple weeks or I am willing to sell the car as a roller.

    $7,000 obo

    Default Plans?

Karl, Sorry to see the Zink up for sale. I was looking forward to a re-match at VIR in October! I tried to contact you when I saw the cranks were available, but couldn't find your e-mail. I hope you are planning to get a newer FF, but if not, best of luck wherever you are headed.

Yea I would really like to get a little more competitive FF. Most likely I will stay in the class, but either way I will be racing. If the car doesn't sell I plan on doing the VIR race. so maybe I will see you there!

    Karl,
You have to sell it to someone who is already a friend or relative. It's a rule with that car, you know.

    Best regards,

Wish the car was on the west coast. A little too much to ship it this way unless you know a racer heading out west for a race.

    Hey Jim,

What have you been quoted, I've call to different shipping companies working at getting a car from the East coast and my quotes were 1250. for an open trailer and 1650. for an enclosed trailer. Thats not to bad.

I called Uhaul and they wanted 2000. just for the truck, no trailer, no gas, no hotels, food and the time just to drive that far.

    Hi Ben:

I sold a BMW 2002 last year and the buyer shipped it to Michigan enclosed for about $1,500 so I think the prices you have seem right. Probably worth the extra bucks for enclosed. Not worth doing a Uhaul unless you are unemployed. $1,650 is pretty fair is you think about what is involved. For the roller, I would rather put that $1,500 toward getting my engine and gearbox in the car.

I read a thread on Apex about shipping cars and the posts mentioned a few comapanies that guys recommended strongly. Might search for it. It was really good but I don't remember which forum.

    Jim

The engine has yet to be assembled. Comes with brand new crank and pistons. Block has just been re-sleeved. Everything there to complete the rebuild!

For good deals on shipping post the 'job' on uShip.com and let shippers bid on it. I've found some great deals there.

Also the engine is getting a little more then a typical rebuild. We re-sleeved, new pistons, cranks, etc. Everything is brand new other then the block and rods..

A interested fellow racer acquired Larry Olivers service and had him do a pre-purchase inspection on the Z10. It turned out not to be the route he wanted to take. But he was nice enough to give me the report Larry wrote up to help me with the sale. I am willing to send the report, but only to serious purchasers.

Go to uship.com...put in the pickup and destination zip codes and you will get a bunch of bids, along with the ability to read feedback on all the shippers.I' ve had really good luck with them.

Since Karl may not see your post right away I'll try to help. Yes his Z-10 does have the fabricated front uprights. Karl bought it from Eric Cruz so it's the same car Eric refers to in the other thread.

Yes, Steve Lathrop told me many years ago when I had the car that he got drunk one night and designed those uprights the next day! LOL Cool thing is you run LD19s F&R, so pads are all the same. I'm pretty sure he said only two cars had those. Steve told me at the time that he ran the chassis through some modern analysis software, and helped me by reinforcing the rockers and spec-ing high rate springs for much lower ride height. All the difference in the world.

It's a great car, Karl's done a lot of good things since he got it from me...if you get it, try not to bend a front corner! At least make friends with Steve. I've gotten spoiled with spec FE cars where I can easily buy more direct bolt-ons of what I bend so I'm biased

    Best regards,
    Eric

    Default Wonderful car(s)

For anyone wanting a competitive and safe car to race in Club Ford, this is a super choice. The cars are easy to drive and setup and built like a truck - very safe. Ask me how I know.

Karl is a very good driver, but this car is competitive regardless. It will help you become a better and more competitive driver. Parts are still available and there is a huge fraternity of Z10 guys out there with knowledge and advice. The changes made to this one cured its tendency to understeer in slow and medium speed corners without sacrificing its renowned stability in fast sweepers.

    Right, Eric?
