    Default Early 80's Ralts

In '96 I bought an early 80's Ralt RT-4 Atlantic ('83) thinking monoposto would include it into the Vintage ranks once the 20 year mark (early 2000's) was crossed. Apparently, the ground effects prevented this from happening. Will this change in the forseeable future or will it be forever grouped with the historic F1, Indy and F5000 cars?

    Greg,

I doubt Momoposto will ever include ground effects cars. Other groups allow them to run.

I have 3 early RT-4s for sale in various stages of dress. Drop me a message at fattogatto@msn.com. Putting flat bottoms on a car that is designed with tunnels is not a good idea. It has been done on the 1980/81 March atlantics without too much issue because their tunnels are just ramped pieces of alloy with no real thought put into their design. However, the Ralts were designed around active tunnels and I fear the handling would be compromised badly.

So where would you race a RT-5 like the nice one for sale in the formula Atlantic classified section?

If there is sufficient interest (read entries) a separate SuperVee class would be added.

On the West coast VARA has several RT-5's that run and do very well.
