    Default DB-4 Skid plate?

More naive questions. Okay, the car is stripped, and all the components are out to assorted vendors for overhaul. Exciting to make progress, and a surprisingly vibrant group of people who still support the DB4.

The last thread on the tub rebuild was very helpful as well. I have a dumb tub question. There is a thin plywood panel that runs the full length of the tub on the bottom. It's about 1/4" thick, and my assumption is that it is sacrificial.

    1. Is it supposed to be there?
    2. If yes, do people still use plywood?
    3. Has anyone used UMWP or any other more "modern" material instead?

thanks again to this knowledgable community!

    Adam,

The plank is there to protect the tub. Various materials can be used, but "jabroc" is the most common. You should definitely remove it and give the bottom of your tub a good inspection.
