It's not how fast you go.
It's how well you go fast.
Part of a steering shaft? Not sure how you would get it thru the dash if it was.
Maybe that is why it is a 'spare' !
Oh, I know what that is. That's one of those ...
What the hell is that thing?

It looks dangerous on a car. I'd toss it.
Almost looks like it's part of a canopy.
What's so scary looking about the upper portion of an adjustable steering shaft? Someone likely made a new one when installing a quick release steering wheel hub.

It's a Schwinholtz coupler. It couples the Schwinholtz to the Rodstank. Very common in cars from Poland and most of the Eastern Block. Looks in pretty good condition for a Schwinholtz coupler that is obviously from early 1979.

Flux capacitor?
I am surprised that no one has recognized it. It is the top cap for the "Deluxe" Tether Ball Post. The dead giveaway are the four holes used to mount four lines and balls vs. the cheapo one ball setup. I remember the rich kids down the street having one.

I hope the winner of this contest doesn't win the actual item in question. I've already got a big box full of them.
Holy CRAP you found it! JT has been looking for that freakin thing for like 6 years. You better give it back!

Oh, so it was from the JT box o spares. Does he want the green MOMO steering wheel back too?
I thought it was a whistle maker that mounts on the end of my swaybar, but no whistle, and too much yaw.

Could be part of a gondulator joint. Connects the swivel piston to the steering frammis.
The best thing to do is to send it to a machine shop and have 5 more made. Then send it to 5 of your friends. Tell them to keep it with their spare parts. In 20 or 30 years there will be thousands of these things around......

I am willing to give you a ford 350 dually for it.

Read the Unfair Advantage.
It is a sawed off 45 inch trammel bar that is used at some tracks that the NASCAR guys run.
But not at Atlanta.
some steering shfts had a flexible coupler about 1/4" thick and round (about 3" diameter), like a big washer.
The idea was to prevent getting speared by the shaft in case of a direct front-on crash. The coupler was supposed to break and so the shaft would become two pieces.
I saw these mostly on FV, not sure how it got in a FF spares box, though.
Bah Humbug!
(JK)
Hope everyone is getting ready for some fun presents under the tree.
www.filtermag.com explains what a HUMbug actually is. Remember the oil companies will put out oil eating microbes as part of a spill clean up. Apparently the diesel / water interface is an environment where certain microbes can survive......so they are referred to as Hydrocarbon Utilising Microbes.....otherwise known as HUMbugs.
Now go have a drink.
It's a "thing -a-ma-jigg", usually found by a turn worker at the conclusion of a race when they do their walk around prior to calling in that the "track is clear-turn 9 is ready for racing"....."roger turn nine-readyto race." I've heard it lots of times at Seattle.
