Agreed, groups should allow natural seperation and hopefully allow some green laps.

Is there a rotation so that classes won't always be on Saturday or on Sunday. Seems like certain groups are often Saturday and certain are always Sunday.

Joe,

Yes there is a rotation, and every effort is made to be sure everyone is moved around. With only one exception, each race group is a different group number than they were last year. In addition, everyone that raced Saturday last year is racing Sunday this year.

We do have to remember that this is a spectator event, and as such, a few things are kept in mind to best partner with Road America. We try to have at least one moderately fast to fast group on Saturday. There are 3 groups that always race on Sunday (owing to it being a spectator event and the majority of the races being on Sunday): GT1, FA, and SRF.

We try to be mindful of competitors whose cars can race in two groups (a very imperfect science, but we try). There are occasionally other factors that play into the groupings, but those vary year to year.

Hope this helps,
Kevin

I've always wondered this and I don't know if anyone has explained this in the past, but why goes GT1 get 15 laps and everyone else gets 13?

2 laps are for fcy/debris laps when one car eventually pops a motor and oils down the track.

Kevin,

Thanks for the reply. I knew there had to be a reason (or at least hoped). Just wondering really.

Default laps

Mike,

I'll try to find out where in the history that started, I know it goes back a long long time. The FA race had also been 15 until probably 10-12 years ago.

There will be a non-SCCA sanctioned test day on Thursday for those registered for the event. Information on that will be in the entry packet, which should be available within the next 1-2 weeks. We are targeting 4/27 as the open of online registration.

Thanks,
Kevin
