No, it is a Volkswagen 2-liter 8-valve crossflow engine. It's completely different to the Pinto, and cannot be swapped with a Pinto without major rework.

Tim, the VW 8v x-flow was popular in European F3 back in the 90's when the series ran with 8v engines, and IIRC, 24mm SIRs. This version of VW's engine was built and sealed by Bertil for the short-lived USF3 series about 8 years ago. Bertil is retired now, so anyone wanting current data on price, power, rebuild costs and intervals, and options should contact Quicksliver, as I think they build most of these nowadays.

I doubt any vintage organization would permit this engine in a SuperVee, though. It completely outclasses the 1600cc and 1835cc non-crossflow versions that were used in SV.

Thanks Stan...I love history...something we seem (as Americans) don't have a passion for...one of the things that is so great about ApexSpeed.

Did Rod O'Connor buy it? I ask, because he bought my F3 Dallara yesterday. If not, you should talk to him about doing up the spare that we gave him. It's in stock USF3 spec. and just needs a rebuild.
