Given ambient temps you might be able to run without it if you have to.

Tim, I replaced the oil cooler on my DB-4 awhile back, and if I remember correctly, I bought it at Pegasus.

    Default Oil Cooler

You can also use the next size down. In fact, I'd recommend it.
It's cheaper, and you can get the oil temps up where they belong much easier.
Just block off the part of the housing where the larger cooler was with a strip of aluminum.

This is a 12a Rotary 60% of the engines cooling is done through spray oiling...the cooler is a must.

Can you not find a suitable replacement from Earls or Pegasus? A slight difference in size won't make that much difference in cooling capacity.

    Default Coolers

C&R, BSR, Hoer. All generally have stock.

Well...the process of discovery often leads to unpleasant findings....this cooler was made on a limited run back the 1992-95 time frame (best I can find out 20/30 where made)....apparently most went to Europe for some type of Formula car and some to Japan.....so now I need to find a company that can make one...it is very odd in the fittings on the short side...

If the cooler is low pressure, ie scavenge oil, then you can have one made from a radiator core. You can use either aluminum or brass. Call C&R in Indy. They can build what you need.

Yes, I looked long and hard for the same type of arrangement. I think you can find them, from Earls or maybe even Summit, but they are much less popular than coolers with fittings on top.

Actually, you may find that your fittings are not really on the "short side", but are considered as being on the top of a very tall cooler (and yours is mounted on its side).

Do a Google search for Earls and 'narrow' and you may find something. However, if you find a part number, don't get too excited because then you have to find someone who actually stocks it.

on edit: Brandon beat me to it! :-).

Me thinks so too....I wish they would say how long the tabs are it looks like they are about 1.25 or 1.5 ...so 23412ERL would over all 13 minis 2.5 for tabs puts it at 10.5 my area is 10.375...I think that way it would fit ...this is where I get confused that part number is what size on the top of the sheet is it the second one form the left with 4' FACE BETWEEN TANKS or is the one I want the 9"...seems a bit confusing to me...

The tab width is the 8.25, body width is about 6. I have a used one that is this narrow width but has 16 inch tall body and -16 fittings.
