Something we have noticed recently, is an increase in classifieds ads posted with no asking price, and little contact information. We'd like to see this trend stop, if at all possible. I know sometimes it can be difficult to put a price on something that you are unsure of value, but we would like to make sure that you are posting ASKING PRICES for all items for sale in all classifieds. This includes if the asking price is in U.S. or foreign funds, if applicable. We have heard too many stories lately of odd dealings on the forums, and while we try to maintain some distance from person-to-person transactions on the forums, we would also like to see all of our readers treated fairly and ethically. If you post a Classified with no price, it will be removed with no warning.
As well, we would like to make sure that you are clear with your contact information. While you don't have to include a phone number, please be sure to post your e-mail address, or allow your e-mail to be contacted through your user profile. If you are set up to receive Private Messages (PMs) through the forums—and you should be if you are posting things for sale—please make sure you check them often.
A friendly note to all ApexSpeed members old and new, we don't remove old Classifieds (or any post for that matter) from any of the Classified sections, so don't bother asking for your post to be deleted.
We do this for a few reasons, but mostly so that over time, a database of sorts is assembled of the market value of cars and parts. With a quick search in your desired Classified section, you can easily get an idea of the going rate for whatever you might be selling or seeking. Pretty simple, and it works tremendously well.
If you have sold an item and would prefer to not receive more inquiries about it, just post in your original thread that the item is SOLD. It takes no time, and lets everyone know that the item is off the market.
Man, it seems like the more Classifieds we have over the many ApexSpeed forums, the more rules (or need for rules) pop up.
Here's the latest...
We have seen on a few occasions that a car or item that was sold here in the past goes up for sale again. That's great to keep things circulating through here, however, there is a pattern shown by BOTS and SPAMMERS that essentially copy and paste old posts here and repost them as their own, to attempt to fly under the radar from the Mods and Admins.
If you are selling an item here like a car, that has previously sold here in the past, DO NOT COPY AND PASTE the original ad from the previous seller and post it as your own. This has happened already 2 or 3 times recently, and in every instance, there have been no previous posts by the seller, no price, no name or no contact information (or all of the above).
The Mods here are now instructed to delete these posts ON SIGHT and will likely ban the user if they have no post history or are new registrants. Don't take a chance on you not being able to post here anymore. These types of posts will not be tolerated.
The truth is, with the Classifieds here taking on almost a life of its own, we are looking into a new system for the Classifieds on their own to potentially avoid these types of issues. The more problems we have with the standard Classifieds as they stand today, the more likely we will be making some changes down the road here on how things are sold.
