    Matt,

I did it with a $4000 car.. Are you implying something?

Just that there is an entirely different value equation in replacement parts for race cars than old industrial equipment. People will definitely buy a $1000 block for a FF. Will they buy one for a Zamboni?

And when your used bobcat's motor expires because the operators can't figure out how to check the oil, water or for that matter fuel, what then do you do?

I agree. The construction guys go through it with a rebuilt motor because they know that another $3-5K bobcat will be as worn out a piece as the one they have, yet they won't know where its been.

Here you go: get a Bobcat and a spare motor for your FF all in one!

    http://springfieldil.craigslist.org/grd/1511544244.html

The Bobcats that came with the Kents were from the early 80s, BTW. I wouldn't imagine there are too many pros still using them. A friend of mine is a Bobcat dealer and I asked him about the Kent motors once. He just laughed.

Thanks. Now all I have to do is trailer out to Illinois and back and rebuild the engine.

Just think how badass that skid steer would be with a 120hp Ivey engine in it. Maybe if the Fit deal doesn't work out, Honda will offer conversion kits for Bobcats!

To put this in perspective in 2007 I believe the ~400 national FF entries were made up by approximately 90-100 drivers. So 20 is a fair proportion considering there is not an entirely complete picture yet of what the conversion takes. What would be more interesting would be how many of those 20 are net new drivers to FF.

20 orders at HPD means nothing.

    1. How many of those orders are multiple engines to a single buyer?
    2. How many are going to regional only guys?
    3. How many are going to be for independent "testing" only?
    4. How many of those orders will get past the deposit?

Then why raise rhetorical questions that just create doubt when there are not facts behind them or are limited materially to issue? How is that constructive to the discussion?

just to set some more facts straight, I am not a Honda guy. I have made a living off Ford, Chevy, Toyota, Nissan, Cosworth, Ilmor & TRD (and have the rings to show for it), but never Honda.

Me bring anything constructive to a Honda discussion? No,.... those days are over!

The only fun I can have now, is firing you up every now and then!

Matt, you keep piling scorn on the Ford engine. By your signature you must be a FV guy. How much does a top line FV engine cost now?

    JR,

If you were pro Ford, Yes.

If you were pro Honda, No.

I would rather drop the whole thing and just go race now. Really the Honda makes no difference to my program or the other DB6 I work with. I actually look foward to grinding those rice burners into the ground. I say bring um!

    2. How many are going to regional only guys? NONE, last I checked there are no regional only guys, everyone gets an invitation to the runoffs
    3. How many are going to be for independent "testing" only? All , I an going to test all of them then pick the best one, sell the others off for some badass skid steers. New class for SCCA in 2011 - FBC, they handle just as well as FE
    4. How many of those orders will get past the deposit? all, I have made application to the current government authorities to help supplement the auto industry

PS I have already been racing, already qualified for the runoffs. I got Al Gore to do some of his weather magic and made the conditions at Sebring close to what we might see at RA... something about a cold day in hell.

Mike, I am this funny in person, maybe the speed in real life is just a little to quick
Yeah, it was Treadway weather, kind of the reason I was running 5th overall before the full course caution. Radios would have kept me there, but nobody likes me enough to talk to me
