    Default Determining Oil Line Size?????

Are there any rules of thumb when determining oil line size?

I am plumbing a 1600 supervee, and planning to use -10 AN hose throughout, and I think this is sufficient. I have seen a lot of cars that seem to be plumbed with -12, but I wonder if that is overkill....... ? I have a Lotus Twin Cam and it runs -8 and I've never had a problem......

    Any thoughts appreciated......

IMO, for that engine -10 is enough. Just as important as size are turns in any fluid system. You should try to use straight fittings whenever possible and avoid hard 90 deg turns. Use swept 90 fittings, not the more severe turn forged ones. Even a tee can be an issue. This rule applies on things with flow so a spur line to a Accusump is less critical.

If you have room you might want to use a -12 on the suction line from the drysump tank to the pump.
