Default Rich Shafer of Cool Shirt

A post last night on teamtac.org says that Rich Shafer had a bad crash in his Camaro at the Crow Mountain Hillclimb and was transported by helicopter. A post this morning on sccaforum.com says that Rich has passed away.

My condolences to his family and friends.

Very sad news. Rick has done a lot for racers in the southeast, and all over.

I thought about him just last week when I saw the Cool Shirt trailer & display at the Runoffs.

    He will be greatly missed.

    Default Sad news indeed.

    Sad news indeed.

I did not know Rich, but I always seemed to paddock near him.

He was obviously passionate about Hill Climbs & I very much appreciated his sponsorship of the SEDIV TT/HC series.

    Edit:
Here is the link to SCCA Forums with a bit more info on the incident.

    Default Sports Car

In this months or last months Sports Car, they had a small blurb about his contributions and dedication to SCCA. Very sad.

    Our condolences to Rich's family.

His dedication to improving driver cooling systems has made it possible to drive cars with horribly hot cockpits without suffering heat exhaustion. But his inventions had had even farther reaching implications, making improvements for firemen and uses in the medical field.
