SCCA Championship Events Fill September

TOPEKA, Kan. (Sept. 1, 2009) – September may signal the beginning of fall for some, for others the return to school or even the start of football season. For members of the Sports Car Club of America though, September is all about Championships. September will be a busy month for the SCCA, as it gears up for three different Championship events at two new venues.

The start of Championship season is just around the corner, with the Tire RackĀ® SCCA ProSolo Finale taking place Sept. 5 – 6. This year, the event has moved to Lincoln, Neb., to set up shop at the Lincoln Airpark. Class competition begins Saturday and continues into Sunday. The event will wrap up with the exciting mano-a-mano Challenges Sunday afternoon and a friendly banquet at the Embassy Suites in Lincoln.

The 37th running of the SCCA Tire Rack Solo National Championships picks up where the ProSolo Finale leaves off on Tuesday, Sept 8, running through Friday, Sept. 11. Roughly 1,200 drivers are expected to descend on the Lincoln Airpark, but only six dozen will walk away with National Champion titles. Additionally, the Tire Rack Solo National Championship will decide the inaugural Solo Triad Award winners, an honor composed of a Divisional Championship, Eastern or Western States Championship and National Championship. The community is welcoming the arrival of the Tire Rack Solo National Championships with open arms, hosting a “Lincoln Night on the Town,” on Tuesday and Thursday evenings, while Wednesday and Friday nights are reserved for the Tire Rack Awards Ceremonies.

Both the Tire Rack ProSolo Finale and SCCA Solo National Championships will have daily recaps posted to www.scca.com along with full results.

The culmination of the SCCA Club Racing season, the SCCA National Championship Runoffs, also has a new home this fall. The Pinnacle of American Motorsports moves to Road America, Sept. 22 – 27. The 46th edition of the Runoffs begins with three days of qualifying, followed by three days of racing, when 25 National Champions will be crowned. The Runoffs also plays a key role in earning the new SCCA Club Racing Super Sweep, the most difficult accomplishment a Club Racer can achieve. For the first time ever, the Runoffs will be broadcast live on the web, with SpeedcastTV covering every race. Additional news, live timing and scoring, lap notes, results and photo galleries can be accessed throughout the event on www.scca.com as well.

September will be a hectic month for SCCA members, staff and fans, so keep checking www.scca.com for all the latest news and results from the 2009 championship events.
