I'm considering this now... my wife can't go but she's OK with me going alone. I have to find someone to help me at the track and the drive out there.

My entry is back in....
Rob,
As the only other Yamaha-powered entry, our tools, talent, and resources (such as they are) are wide open to you. We might even have space in our paddock spot but won't know until they tell me which one I'm getting.
As some of you know, I also debuted my FB at the ARRC after a 17 hour tow, first time to that track, with zero track time on the car, and over a year off for the driver. It was the pool of expertise and helping hands (primarily George Dean and Sean O'Connell) that made the weekend a success. No regrets at all.

We're certain to beat last year's entries (8) but it looks like a stretch goal of 15 entries is not out of the question! Get off the fence and be a part of this huge event!

Can we paddock all close together? I'm trying to find someone from NER to tow with. This is a 20 hour trip. I have a place to spend Tuesday night near Cleveland. Arrive near track Wednesday night and test session Thursday.
Oh - and one more thing. I'm only coming if I finally get my T-shirt!
Parking at the Sprints used to be a Fuster Cluck but it's gotten better. However, because of the complex reserved parking system, it would be a huge headache to get everyone together. If someone wants to spearhead it I'd be happy to get there early enough to help organize. Don't hold your breath, though.
I've been assured that I'll have T-shirts in my hand by the test day.

Rob,
I'm willing to split duties between Mike B's and your car if you come. But I won't be there until about 8 AM on Friday. Remember the test day could cost us a # in the car count if something goes wrong.
I've got a trick or two up my sleeve to persuade Gary & Tony to head on up.
GC
This is shaping up to be the coolest FB race yet...
F1000 Competitors-
Gary Hickman / Tony Moore are working day and night to finish the new and improved Edge F1000. We have high confidence we'll make it to this years JS.
Just to let you know what we've been up to we basically built another car. We started on it around mid April. We enlisted the help of Billy Wight to do an FEA and tube obtimization to the chassis using Hyperworks to shed...get this 55lbs. out of the chassis. All in the quest to get under weight so we can ballast to min.
Oh...and Glen, please no jabs about my weight problem...you know how sensitive I am about it LOL.

After reading this thread it seems to me that I would have some serious regrets in life if I missed this race. This is truely shaping up to be the biggest FB shootout EVER!
So after a call to "Saint" George Dean. I will have my new motor early next week.
SO... Count me in...

has always been a weekness of mine...
But, seriously this is framing up to be a Runoffs/ARRC level field of drivers. I can not resist this. Even if I finish dead last, I will be proud to have raced with this crew...

We did the needed donor swap to the new chassis....but there's enough left for 2 cars less diff. and engine. My family and my employees think I've lost my mind....mid life crissis I guess.....but I wanna win.

Maybe I'll call Brands/Cooper Jr. and Russ McB tomorrow. Tell 'em how this thing is shaping up...
No need to contact me. I'm watching this thread and feeling worse all the time about not being in position to go. I *could* thrash and have the car ready, but no way could I come up with the funds for the tow or entry fee. I think it's great that Brandon, Gary, Rob, Mike, Sean and others are making the huge sacrifices to attend, and I'm extremely impressed with the quality and quantity of the field. I can only hope that I'll hear about the weekend as it's under way, and hope everyone has the great time they deserve for all their efforts to get there.

This really is going to be bad ass. I always thought this should be a more important race for the FB community than the ARRC given its a national race and counts towards our numbers but hey that's just me.

As it should be. It's the Junesprints!
Dan,
Thanks for the offer. It's looking more like I will attend, but I have to do the test day...
Also...
Can we sleep in our trailers at RA? Is the paddock grass or paved? Is there air? Water? Electricity? Gas? Can I put up my trailer canopy? Will Hoosier tires be there?
Lots of questions - need to prepare and plan.
I hesitate to post this publicly, but, if anyone knows how I could get my car from Atlanta to the June Sprints without it costing me much money, let me know.

Yes, but you may have to pay a camping fee.
A lot of both. Late entries will likely be in a grassy area. See if they'll have mercy on a low ride-height formula car.
Yes, at the tire vendors.
There are decent showers but no hose hook-ups that I know of.
Very sparce. Bring a generator if you're not on pit lane (you won't be.)
Two or three flavors at the paddock gas station. Pay at the pump.
Of course.
All the major racing tires vendors will be there.
Make it happen, Rob. This group will help out with anything you might need.

Mainly because it sounds like such a great gathering - enough to offset the fact that I'd probably see you there!
Just kidding. If I go (and it's very doubtful), I'd really hope to see you there, because I'd hate to finish DFL. I think my newer chassis should be significantly faster than your 16 year old CFB.
Hey, don't laugh. Van Diemen made some significant design improvements during the 12 months after they built your car! :-).

I'm not sure if there are any grass spots still available on the main drag, coming in on the right, past the braut stand, just over the crest of the hill. There are electrical hookups there...
John, you so need to come down to the our Rd A in November for the F-Thou Nat Champ race.
The weather is stunningly deluxe, the ARRC party will rock like the first year.
You've never been to our Rd A have you? Better get up to speed on the iRacin' thing, then I'll put you through the DiCoopola Accelerated Training Course.
GC
I'm more than iRacing it up at Rd Alt Coop but have never been there in real life. Would always appreciate the crash course from you. I am hoping to make it but work is always difficult at that time and I'd like to plan to run the Jan nationals down in Sunny FLA as well so who knows. We'll see buddy.
At the same time personally the Sprints versus the ARRC there is no comparison. Last year we race on Sunday when a lot of the crowd had left, saturday with the stands packed will be awesome!! I'd wager the ARRC cant compared. Plus RA is a circuit without compare.

Ha, You are correct sir, Road Atlanta IS a course w/o compare!
GC
So, with all this being said, what is our official entry list going to look like now.
With all this peer pressure, I almost feel like bringing my car down and pushing it around the track.
If we could give the Cen Div Licensing Steward this much peer pressure. I could be running nationals this season.
Rob,
PM or call me before you leave for the track, I'll have another volunteer coming with me.

I appreciate everyone's support, but I am not going to make The Sprints. The 40 hour round trip tow is about my annual budget for all races... that's just too much this year.
so I'll run the LRP Regional as a practice for the LRP National and probably the Pocono National.
Without doing the Sprints, my odds of getting to the ARRC are a lot higher. Besides, I'd rather be in Georgia in November than Wisconsin in June.
Rob, I can identify. During Saturday of this weekend I enjoyed thinking about bringing my car to the Sprints, but by Sunday I realized it couldn't happen. On the bright side, it lit a fire and I worked on the car for a bit this weekend. I wont go into the details, but it would take a lot to get the new engine into my car and running. I need to order some parts, and really don't want to rush to get it back together.
Glad to hear you're hoping to make the ARRC.

Looks like Niki is a go! With 11 entries we'll need a few more to surpass the driver count at the 2007 ARRC, but with two National Champions in the field this race is shaping up to be the one to watch!

Booya this is going to be awesome. Gotta get away from work to get the car setup and then I'll be ready to party. Can't wait to see us make the sprints THE F1000 race of the year. ( sorry coop...it can only happen at the real RA. )
