I've been meaning to start a June Sprints Roll Call thread but Keith beat me to it.
Here's the deal:
I have it on good authority that F1000 will be grouped with FE at the June Sprints. This offers us a great opportunity to really show what F1000 is all about. We should be the faster of the two groups and can use this chance to demonstrate the excitement that is F1000.
I know there will be a few of us (well, me anyway) that won't be as fast as the fastest FEs so if there are enough F1000s, we might be able to get a split start. It might not be needed but if there are enough guys responding to this thread, I can start that ball rolling sooner than later.
Respond to this thread if you're attending!

Team Coopsport will be there.

I will confirm what Mike said regarding grouping at the sprints. Here is a copy of a PM that I received.
__________________________________________________ ____________________________________
"Jason,
I hope you're planning on running the June Sprints As an experiment, we added a race group and divided the formula cars into natural splits with no more than two classes per race group. The three sports racing classes are together with no formula cars in the group. If we get the numbers, this will probably be repeated in 2010. If not it will be back to the way it was last year.
FA/FM
FC/FF
FB/FE
FV/F5
CSR/DSR/S2 "

Nothing was said about a split start or how the cars will be released for qualifying. I can only assume that the details have not been finalized.

This echoes the message that I received. It also stated that if we don't have the numbers, we'll likely be grouped with FA in the future.
Don't know what the FA guys think about being with FM, but these groups sure seem like no-brainers to me.
With 5 formula & sportsracer groups, does that only leave 4 or 5 tin-top groups?
Still too many...

I will commit to bringing the beer right here and now. As long as we get a total count of attendees in this thread (so I bring enough) I'll pave the way for everyone to enjoy a good spectrum of brews.

The entry list so far:
Kyle Oberndorf - Stohr
Mark Jaremko- Phoenix
David Burkett - Stohr
Mike Beauchamp - Van Diemen RF93
James Michael - Stohr
Glenn Cooper - Van Diemen Novak
Bill McLaughlin - Firman
John Stecher - Stohr
Chris Waterman - Speads
These guys said they're going but haven't registered yet:
Chris McNitt- Van Diemen RF96
Gary Hickman- Edge
Jack Pim
12 cars would beat last year's 8 entries but we really need to get some momentum going and I think we could get around 15 entries based on cars that are ready to race. Bill McLaughlin has their Stohr available for rent. If you have a car but don't want to race or don't have a national license, consider giving your budget a shot in the arm by renting it out for the June Sprints (or other nationals.) You get some money in the bank and FB gets another entry. It's a win-win!
Also, stay tuned for some June Sprints-specific prizes that might entice you off the fence.
Let's make this the biggest F1000 race yet!

OK, I registered. If it is at all possible, I'll go.
I'm going to do a shakedown test on May 19, and then the Road Atlanta National on May 30, again if at all possible. This is an entirely new car, so I'm sure that I'll have my share of issues to deal with. If I believe that I can tow to Road America (1000 miles each way) and have a reasonable chance of running all weekend then I'll make the trip.
Wish me luck! And to everybody on the fence about this event...Come on, let's go.
Brandon Dixon
Citation F1000
Brandon,
Even if your car is not perfect there will be alot of people that can help you solve problems at the Sprints, All of the engine builders will be there as well as many of the chassis builders. LOTS OF BRAIN POWER! If you run into problems you could learn alot from The F-1000 drivers and crew that will be there.
Besides, just spinning a wheel on the track will go toward the car count.
I'm all registered chumps...can't wait to have us have a bigger turn out than the FE field. Remember I'll provide the beer for the Saturday night party so come on and get registered folks and make me stimulate the economy more in the crucial beer sector.

So we're still at 9 folks I take it Mike? DLB doesn't seem to be updating if people pull out. Come on guys get your registration in and come race!! There has to be more than a few trailers with open spots hauling from all over the US to the rolling kills of central Wisconsin.

I know, I'm re-thinking my decision. I just wish that there was one more event that I could get "under my belt" first. Something closer so that if I run 5 laps and have to go home it won't be as big a waste....
As Dan said in an earlier post, you'll have nearly the entire F1000 braintrust at the June Sprints:
George Dean
Richard Cottrill
Lee Stohr
Jay Novak
Mike Devins
plus lots of other builders and tuners.
If those guys can't fix any problem that arises I don't know who can!
Maybe you could even talk Pare & Lathrop into taking the short drive up.

Hey Brandon,
I know how you and many others feel while going through the trails of developing a new car. Its a daunting task that can leave you totally exhausted both mentally and physically. But you have to keep racing to get the job finished, and going to bigger races does, as Mike said offer a wider variety of help and advice....
Dustin at Phoenix race works has been towing all over the country this year with a totally new car, my best gustimate is that he's tow'd about 4000 miles so far this year and he is getting ready to add another 3ooo miles to that with the R/A tow. We have had our share of new car issues, but when it all works it does feel good.
It would be nice to see you again and of coarse, Phoenix Race Works would be there to help if you needed it ;-)
mj
Come on Brandon, just showing the spectators the work you have done would be worth the trip. The satisfaction of all that work neeeds to be appreciated by the crowds.
In 1988 I debuted a CSR that I built at the Junesprints. We had a number of issues and I didn't even make the race. The shifter lever broke off in my hand in the last Quali session. The feeling of thundering down into turn 5 with all those people watching was priceless. Besides what you will learn there would take you a season of development on your own. That my friend is added value. I would debut a car there again if I was a bit farther along with my conversion.
Brandon,
I will tell you that when I look back at attending the first F1000 ARRC at Road Atlanta I will never regret it....even though the weekend was a disaster. We brought a prototype car (30 hours towing each way) which we were really still testing to a track that I had never seen...let alone drive. I knew I couldn't compete with the likes of Kasemets, Morgan and Pritchard, but I wanted to be a part of the event and I wanted to reward Dustin (and me too) for all the hard work we had put into building one of the first F1000's ever built.
This Sprints is shaping up to be the biggest event in FB and a true showcase of what this class has to offer. Sign Up! I think you'll regret it more if you don't go.
