If anyone gets some good photos of the F1000's at Roebling Road, I would like to add them to the F1000 owner/drivers gallery.

The site is growing as I gather information on our Formula F1000 group.
Keep the photos and news coming.
Hopefully March 7th will bring some good photos.

I'm going, my car is barely running but my arm was twisted until I agreed to go!
Excellent. I think that makes four known FB entrants.
The weather forecast looks great. There is a good chance a few of us will be going down for a day trip. The formula/sports racer group looks pretty good, lots of neat cars.
Anyone want to twist my arm and try to get me to race my car? All I would need is for someone to pay the entry fee for me. :-).

Russ,
I'll buy you a beer or two. BTW, I think I lost the check you gave me for the difuser, so add that to the entry fee ;-)

If the region would accept peer pressure as partial payment towards the entry fee, I might do it.
My car is ready (I think). There's just no money to do it. I'm hoping to be able to do the Rd Atl national race later this month. It'll be a bit cheaper since I live nearby, and there are a couple of paychecks between now and then.

The RFR 1000 just completed over 225 miles of trouble free running at a Roebling test today, the best lap a 1:02:98.
It will test again on friday before its U.S. race debut this weekend.

That's smokin' !
Wow. I agree. Pretty good debut.
I remember having similar thoughts after hearing about the Stohr F1000 Roebling Road debut lap times 2 years ago.
I'm guessing the RFR 1000 was part of Rick Ross' private test day. Any other news from those folks?
I had hoped to go to the track this weekend but will not. Wish I could go watch all the neat cars and enjoy the great weather forcasted. Have fun.

holy stuff thats 5 seconds off the LR!
I see its on Avons, Ive yet to anyone else on those, only hoosiers goodyears and coopers. Any reasons?
Avons are fast. The Brits do know how to build great cold and/or wet compounds. They are also light. Niki won a lot of FC races using them. Harder to find in US, but not impossible. Even harder to get trackside service, but Hoosier and GY will help you at the track with mounting, etc.
My guess at least two records will fall this weekend at RRR. FC and FB. Maybe FV with Davis' new car.
I need to go out and put bigger mirrors on the ol' race car.
OMG. Steven Davis has a new car? What was wrong with the last one that was just fine for several decades?
IIRC, the Stohr debut test times were 1:03's. It's very possible that the current FB lap record was set during not great conditions, such as damp track. That's just a guess.
It's not too surprising to see FB times fairly close to FA & DSR. It would be if I was driving.

Yes the Coopers are a really good tire and very consistant, we ran most of the day in the 1:03 bracket. The conditions were very near perfect on wednesday.Glen Cooper is going out today should be very interesting.
We went down to watch in the bowl, I must say the F1000's are a shocking bit of kit.

The Lap Record for FB was set by Ken Tyrrel just shortly after he got his Stohr chassis. At the time Ken was new to SCCA racing...had very little experience. I spoke with him on the phone around this time about the car because I was considering buying a Stohr. He wasn't too helpful though, he was basically a newbie hence his lap times were pretty slow IMO.
Fairly certain GC will be right there with the RFR in laptimes....he's got the experience to get it done.

The RFR cars did not run today, but Cooper was on the track this afternoon. Not sure how many laps he did, or what his lap times were. His car definitely sounded great coming around Turn 3. The RFR cars look really nice, by the way.
So far the weather here has been perfect, and if this keeps up I would say that several new lap records could be set. In my opinion the track was very fast today. I was able to run numerous laps in the 1:02's today with old tires, and last year I was only able to approach those speeds with fresh tires and very light on fuel. The wild card for lap times will be traffic.....there are 26 cars in the run group, and the differences in lap times will be significant. It will take a little luck with traffic to set a lap record under those conditions.
Rick soounds like you had a successful test today. Your right about the traffic, lappers should come about lap 6. see you tomorrow
RFR tests on Wednesday, Coop tests during another private test day on Thursday, Friday is another test day. The suspense is killing me. It won't be until Saturday night before we see a grid.
The preregistered list of FA's, sports racers, etc. is impressive. The 26 count does not include the RFR & RF96 FB cars, so the field might even be bigger. It sure will be an entertaining race group.
Good luck, everyone.

Today's test might answer some questions but I'm predicting there will be right around 5 cars on the grid, if they all survive the test day.
Good luck to all!

Yep. Starting to look that way. Check out the updated entry list (which does not include Clint, but we think he'll be there in his RF-96):

All 5 are registered now, including Nitt McClint. Oddly, Taylor is listed as driving an '02 Van Diemen, not the RFR. Hopefully someone on the scene can get the scoop.
And some good pictures!

Yea, Greg. Mark already point that out that I got his name wrong in my earlier post. I'm an idiot. I find myself getting names wrong more and more these days.
I noticed the '02 VD entry, too. I wonder if it is one of those Blackbird type cars like Tom Cooper's or Ben Beattie's.

Russ
I believe the 02 VD that Taylor is listed as driving is actually one in the same car that is listed in the Classified section....however it's listed as an 2006 VD281.
The VD281 is also the same car used for the FE platform....and yes Tom's and Ben's are the same as this car.
Seems very odd the RFR is not even listed on the entry list......After reading the entry list again I think there was just a error in the listing.

Ya I wonder whats up with the rfr. Maybe it broke?Or maybe they expected more from the car on its debut and put off the race?
I don't think so. Firman's got too much into his investment. I keep hearing some goofy rumors clear over here on the left coast. I met Firman at PRI and he's a straight up dude. I'm certain that he's being cautious though. The new Phoenix with MJ @ the helm is going to be tough to compete with.
One other thing. You've gotta love the buzz surrounding this FB class even in a crap economy...makes me wonder what it would be like if we can ever turn this turd economy around....hope I'm still around then.

The RFR is running and it was signed up on the entry as a RFR, so we are not sure why the entry says that, we will investigate.
First practice:
Taylor 1:05:0 wednesday test day rubber
Cooper 1: 05:8 not sure what rubber he was on.
They are group 7 so results will be late in the day.

I was thinking the same thing. Last year, we had 8 cars at the June Sprints. This year we have 5 at an early spring (late winter?) race at a relatively small track. Makes me hopeful that the Sprints will be big this year.
I'm looking forward to hearing some stories. Hopefully PF or GC have wireless at the hotel!
