Wow....this makes me tired watching it.
Tony and I went through basically the same thing making the body for our FB but we didn't have a camera mounted in the same place the entire time.
Nice work Clark and Mike...and to the others involved who's names I don't know.

Others involved were Rick who works with me pretty much every day. My nephew David who was tearing it up with the saw ( the master of disaster ) and a Jerry, in white, with the feather fill.
Clark and were laughing today because I took most of the pic's it looked like he did all of the work.
So for us neophyte fiberglass bodywork folks what is the key to getting things uniform and symetrical? I wish you guys would have narrarated and offered it on video. I would have bought it!
Can't speak for Mike and his crew but I can tell you how we did it. We made a giant copy gage. We used long 3/16" rods spaced about 3/4" apart. You've probably seen these before but much smaller scale. We moved it along stations that we could transfer side to side. Whenever we felt the need we transfered the copy gage profile to cardboard. Typical stations are spaced 3 inches apart.

Cool video... thanks.
As you can see in the video, we started with a deck that is a flat surface (cross car) to a predetermined side view curve/slope. This was all leveled and balanced off the platform we built up from. The center body shape was foam hot wire cut from templates (front to rear) then plan view cut from another set of templates. Surface crown was added with bondo via drag templates. The fenders were cut from templates also, and final shaping (Less than 1/4")was done with bondo and hand fitted templates to balance. It is far from a cad cut model as far as accuracy (balance-wize) but plenty accurate enough for our purposes - and does not cost a small fortune! These methods are not dissimilar from the process we used designing cars for GM in the pre-CAD years. If you pause the video every now and then you can see some of what I'm talking about.
Cheers, Clark
Wonderful build, wonderful video.
You daughter has some production talent, too.
What type of foam did you use and where can I get it without major shipping cost. What sizes can I get.
Jerry
It is called C-bead foam in a 1.5# per cu/ft density and comes in 4' X 12' boards from 2" to 12" thick, about $220 for the 12" thick stuff. I know were to get it locally around Detroit but not sure were you would get it where you live. It is the same stuff that die shops use to cut their patterns from before they do the castings.
I would try any local die shops and ask them who does their patterns.
I would believe that shipping would be as much as the foam if you can not find it locally.
You guys are incredible, and Clark I see it runs in the family!
Very professional, GREAT music, unexpected sequencing effects,
