Default ARRC - CFF and FFX

Last time I looked, there were 5 CFF drivers in 5 different Makes of cars! I'm sure there are others planning on coming but where are they? Only a 5 more weeks!

Sadly, there aren't any FFXs entered. In case you weren't aware, that's an FF on any "hard" tire as defined in the supps (R60, Dunlop, R600 if they still make them, etc). I probably would have entered FFX but my Swift broke something in the diff. Any FF'ers going to try? Can you beat the FFX lap record?

    Default My engine...

is in a million parts (some were broken) The block is due back on Thursday. If I get all the parts this week I should have it all back together in time.

So I guess I'm a definite maybe in CF. My main problem is Diesel fuel at $4.00+

    Default News?

Any news from testing? Who looks fast?

I did everything I could to make this event after my wreck at Gateway but I couldn't finish last night so I won't be racing. I might try to make it out there to watch with my son. Any ideas on hotel rooms at this late date?

Of special note is that #72, Gunnar Lindstrom, is from southern California. Recently retired, he's mixing some racing in with a retirement project and has been to MidOhio, Gateway, one of the Michigan tracks and now Road Atlanta, all for the first time.

I hope to see you guys tomorrow!

    Evening race fans,

Thought I'd pass on that JS Brooks converted the pole position at the ARRC into a race win today, leading Steve Robertson and Phil Kingham to the start/finish. More here:

This was a great race! There were 9 lead changes at the start/finish line with Bardwell, Brooks and Robertson each taking turns.

Today is a bonus race and I'll try to report more when I get home tonight. Right now, my 4.5 year old wants breakfast and to show off his autographed Purple Frog Hoosier hat!

It was really great to see 4 or 5 Club Fords doing great times and competing for the win.

    It was like 1981 again!

Come to any EWC race, and see the same thing, Congrats to Phil Kingham and Dave Harmison, EWC regulars.

It was a fun weekend with some truly serious competition. We ran much of the ARRC race as a pack of 4 cars, at least once braking for 10a two wide and two deep. It was my first time driving Road Atlanta, and it is a fun track. Thanks to Joe Marchinski for showing me around in the first practice session on Thursday.

The Bonus Race on Sunday was entertaining, too. On-track damage on Saturday kept Todd Bardwell from running it, and Steve Brooks and Steve Robertson both had mechanical problems, but Dave Harmison and I had a battle. I spun in 1 at the start and had to really hustle to catch and pass Dave. Then on the last lap, we cought a slower car going into 10a, and I learned that you can't go through there three wide. Dave slid through for the win.

I second Marc's recommendation to come to EWC events. And I'm definitely planning on the 40th at Road America.

I completely blew it on Saturday. I had new brake pads on the front and as one would expect, locked the back end up going into 10a on the first lap and spun to the back. I had a great time racing back up to fourth. Don Bacquet (I know I just butchered his name) and I had a great tussle. I think I surprised him by hanging onto the outside line going through turn one side by side.

Sunday was a blast. As Phil said, he spun and the Steves both dropped out with mechanicals. After Phil chased me down I had to draft him the rest of the race. If I'd had my bi-focals on I'd tell you all the serial numbers on the back of his Hewland.

Going into turn ten for the last time, I dove all the way to the left, Phil got the middle and Kevin ?? got the outside. Phil and Kevin touched and I snuck through for the win.

With me just inches behind Phil for so long the public address announcer about had a stroke. I'm told it was quite the play by play. FF the way it should be, aerodynamic bricks drafting.

See you all in the spring, the 40th and then back to the ARRC!

    Dave
