Default Elite EDV Gear Position Potentiometer?

So does anyone bother w/ the gear position indicator on their Pi dash? If so, where does the potentiometer install, and does anyone have good leads on a cheap source? Thanks,

-Chris

I don't know that too many people bother with this. Once you get accustomed to the sequential box, I mainly just reference or count downshifts. There is no time for me to look at the dash while I am braking and downshifting.

Default EVD Gear Indication

Hi Chris,
We've been interested in getting a gear potentiometer too. Last year at PRI, I talked to the Elite guys (from England) and they said they had an alternative actuator that was a bolt on to our xaxle and included a drive tang for a rotary pot. I had hoped that Enterprises might be bringing that actuator in. Don't know more than that.

For analysis purposes, we calculate the gear number....but it would be good to see it on the dash in real time as well.

Barry, I have one of those actuators on one of my cars. Sent the pot to CDS where Pete promptly smoked it.....I mean put an end on it that hooked up to my CDS. Works great! I had previously ordered the CDS with that input knowing that actuator was coming out. You can get the actuator and pot from Elite and get a core refund for your actuator. I kept my core as a spare and I'm trying various "fixes" and rotating actuators on my cars.

Chuck had problems with his new style actuator. Don't recall the issue, but think it was galling. I think he's using Lee's or Craig's fix now, but doesn't have the gear lead.
