Ummm, Frog, at last report, Mosport was in deepest, darkest Ontario. You won't need a phrase book. As long as you can pronounce 'Molsons' and 'Labatts' you should be fine.

The place I like to watch close racing at Mosport is the outside of the end of the back straight, at the entry to T8. That's where there is, with this level of car, some absolute commitment and great passing attempts.

OK, I'll leave the French book with the car at the airport. But, I read in National Geographic that the place was full of French fur traders and polar bears, and the only way to get across country was on the Trans-Canadian Railroad. (Of course it was a 1903 edition.) It was quite the job to convince Mrs Frog she wouldn't need snowshoes and down jackets.

I'll save the French book for Three Rivers.

    Trois Rivières, s'il vous plaît.

And, watch out for those fur traders. They'll rob you blind.

    Default Bowmanville Road Trip

Frog, If you have not been there before, and it sounds as though you have not, a few things to remember:
(It has been a few years since I have made the journey, and it was life changing...)

Possibly the most important thing to remember: Beer is purchased at "The Beer Store" (literally), while liqour can only be purchased at... "The Liqour Store".

Additionally these establishments will only accept cash, ie Canadian currency. Basically they don't want their citizenry to finance their buzz on credit cards!

There is a double super secret squirell back way towards town when leaving the track. It has a bunch of tricky turns, and can be taken at quite a clip. Highly recomended. Ask aboot, you'll find it.

You will want to move there. You will start scheming of ways to go about, er, aboot accomplishing this right about the time you roll into the track.

This track is THE best, MOST challenging, COOLEST collection of asphalt in N America. Period.

Find Grizzly on the Track Services crew, tell him you are connected to that old Star Mazda Pro Series runner and ex FCM scribe yours truly. He'll scratch at his beard for a while, mumble something about "Oh yeah, that dude", and then promptly invite you to the infield bonfire/party. Much local beer, good times.

    Coop Out.

Most of those tricky back road routes (pronounced roots) now go through snotty new sub-divisions. I would watch the speed on any roads in that area, especially on Mosport Grand Prix Weekend .... being billed as " the biggest road racing event in Cannada".

BTW ..... In Canada, Molsons and Labatts are brands. Ask for either and the waitress/bartender will look at you funny and wait for you to tell her what kind of beer you want. You will have to know whether you want Ex, Canadian, Brador, etc or Blue, 50, ExtraStock, etc respectively. If you get too confused .... order Bud, Miller, or Coorslight which is brewed under license by either Molson or Labatts.

The beer store just sells beer, but the liquor store sells beer, wine, booze and some stuff I'm frankly scared of... Both take plastic now...

Why is it that when people talk about coming to Mosport to race, the conversation starts with wobbly pops?

Well beer is our National drink Brian

As I mentioned on EFCN, I'll be bringing some Canadian sweets to the track in the form of Butter tarts and Nanimo Bars. So, if you find me early you might be able to try one or both.

You know, I have to admit - the total experience is not quite the same in the absence of the Fat Boys.

Vaughn Horvath ran out of fuel on Thursday and Friday?

I am not his crew chief! How could that happen?

Or was it a fuel delivery problem?

    Default Well done all

Great racing throughout the field. A good showing from the Ontario Formula Ford Challenge drivers. Mosport experience a real benefit. Also says alot about the quality of the field up front in the OFFC and the merit of running an all FF grid/series on the Dunlop tyre.

Well...I guess it was a fuel delivery problem, namely me delivering enough fuel into the fuel cell.
Vaughn withdrew from the track on Friday due to a broken third gear, not a fuel problem.
It was dark and I was tired, and I really appreciated Froggy coming by the trailer and helping me put things together for Saturday. Scotty from Taylor came by too.
Canada was great. You can drive 100 on the freeways, gas cost $1.25, and even though the temperature never got above 28 degrees, it felt a lot warmer than that.

I know the feeling. I did it to my driver a couple of weeks ago for a qual. session (at self). That's why I noticed it.

    Let's see, the series travels to Canada and;

One Baytos goes homeland security in Florida,
another Baytos dodges the second Elan attack of the season,
Fat Boys are denied entry into Canada based on their reputation,
Bob Wright is the only person alive who can't cross into the USA without papers,
the racing is flawless but we get few reports because Frog is too cheap to pay international rates,

anything else we're not being told?

    Brian, Great job!

I also never mention that the Tim2 Cafe in the paddock has the best racing food daily for lunch. I keep that secret quiet so I can have seconds, or what Tim says are thirds.

No mention of why one driver missed one qualifying session because of broken gears, but more interestingly HOW they got damaged.

This was the first weekend we had "Cars without drivers" on pit lane. At VIR it was drivers without cars.

    Chicken bones are sophmoric.

Somebody had ' ho milk . com ' on their airscoop. Never made it to the track.

Lots more, but i'm waiting on my retainer from National Enquirer.

If you'd come to the races you'd get all the 'dirt'. Of course if you came to the races there would be more 'dirt'...
