    Default Oil Cooler installation help requested

    I'm adding a remote oil cooler to the stock 2000 Honda CBR929RR motor in my car. My best plan is an "oil filter relocation kit" that will allow me to plumb in a large oil filter before the cooler and provide the adaptor I need for the engine side. Something like this:

    They key is finding the adapter from the engine. Is it a funky size?
    Any suggestions on where to get this for a Honda motorcycle motor?
    Is there a better or smarter way to do this?

    Have you done a Google search for something like, oil filter relocation CBR929RR?

    Maybe there are Honda racing forums or venders you could ask.

    I got my oil filter relocation kit from Peter D Motorsports. My engine is a Kawasaki. Not sure about Hondas.

    I've found likely sources for what I need, but we need to verify the size of the adapter ring that attaches to the engine in place of the oil filter.

    Does anyone know the measurements, or a source for the measurements?

    Needed:
    Oil filter inner flange diameter
    Oil filter outer flange diameter
    Oil filter thread size/pitch
    Oil filter thread depth

    (Unfortunately, I'm away from my car for ten days.)

    See if you can look up oil filter part numbers that fit your engine and then find their specs. Or, just buy a filter and measure it.

    A quick search on the Baldwin filter website shows that most of the Honda bikes use a 20 x 1.5mm thread, which is also the same thread size used on most late model Honda cars (1988 & later). Earlier model Honda cars used a 22 x 1.5mm thread (which is what I use on my H-prod Honda).

    Note: Baldwin's site did not have a listing for the CBR929RR but they did list the CBR600, CBR1000, and CBR1100.

    Grab a cheap filter from Wally world (Fram or Filtech) to check. Anything from a 1988 or later Civic should work.

    Just one more comment...

    Once you have determined which thread size you have, consider using a higher quality machined 'billet' adapter instead of one of those cheap cast units like you would find from Jeg's. If you ever compared the two side-by-side, the quality of the machined unit is much higher and the ports are much less restrictive. The cost is relatively insignificant (around $75 I think) for the better unit.
