    Default 04 R1 questions

Yamaha has a cool quick disconnect on the fuel line going into the injectors. I would like to retain that when I run my fuel line. But I'm used to carbs with 3 psi. With 45 psi, I want to be sure I have a secure connection at that point. Can I just clamp the new line over that fitting? The existing set up looks like that joint is tubing within tubing and crimped or heat shrunk all together.

Would be helpful to know how others have dealt with that and TIA.

You can just use a normal hose clamp and everything will work perfectly. Did for me on my 05.

    Default EFI to AN adapters

Or, you can go the route we did on our Messenger MX1. For our 07 GSXr we used an Aeromotive adapter that uses standard EFI quality connections, is made of anodized aluminum and adaptes to about any AN male or female setup you want. These adapters allowed us to use steel braided line and OEM quality (and safety) on all fuel lines. You should consider doing the same.

BTW, for anyone out there using fuel line. There are still a lot of people that don't know the difference between regular fuel line and EFI fuel line. If you ain't runnin' EFI labeled fuel line - remove it immedately!

You can email the tech department at aeromotive and talk to Jared Cox. He is very helpful:

    Jared Cox [jcox@aeromotiveinc.com]

    Hope this helps.

Thanks Jay. Very helpful But don't you have to weld the Aeromotive fitting to the fuel rail?

And why can't you use regular fuel line for EFI? I think mine is rated 200psi.

    Educate me. Thanks.

    Default Fittings

No need to weld. These fittings have the plastic insert that attaches in lieu of the OEM fuel line. They just snap on. The end with the hex is the end you put the AN adapter that allows you to attach your "in" line from your fuel pump.

That is assuming your fuel line into the motor is a steel line with what looks like a integral steel o-ring on it. Can you post a pic of the fuel line you want to attach to?

I am not sure of the various hose ratings. The traditional looking hose I buy (not the hard plastic stuff) states the ratings on it. I believe the cheap hose says - not for EFI - directly on the hose. I will look at some when i get to the shop.

If your fuel line is rated at 200 PSI, it is EFI line. Back in the old days of carbs, fuel line didn't have to deal with more than 7-15 PSI. A line meant for those pressures would have a rather short life with a potentially spectacular demise with EFI pressures!

    Jay,

Can you please post the part number that will work for a GSXR - Thanks

    JJSTECHER

I have used hose clamps on my car with no failures in 4 seasons. That being said I will be spending the money on the fitting that Jay described on my new car - cheap insurance.

    Default Part number

I will have to look up the part numbers monday. Jared at Aeromotive found it for me, then I bought through a dealer. His email is above.
