Why is F1 always changing the calendar and looking for new tracks? Is attendance really poor at the current tracks?
It's more a question of Bernie Ecclestone squeezing the maximum revenue out of F1 venues.
Having more potential venues than possible races gives him tremendous leverage in terms of fees paid to hold a race. In a similar way, you will notice that the NFL always keeps one major market without a team. This lets them squeeze the existing cities for more money by threatening to move a team to that market.
