Default Lola T-342 dry cell pump vs shifter

Okay, here is my latest problem. (You thought that I was going away). My last hook up for the plumbing for the oil system is hitting my shifter rod. An AQP 90 degree fitting will not fit. This is on the low pressure side from the sump. Can I get away with a device from Pegasus that is "great for tight spots?" This is on page 79 of their catalog and appears to be designed for this problem. We are having some space problems here. Any suggestions

    Thanks,

    Mike

In general, using a single tight 90 vs. a sweep 90 fitting won't dramatically affect the resistance of the total circuit. Because it's essentially a positive displacement pump, the flow should be OK but the HP consumption might increase insignificantly. I'd suggest that you put the pressure feed directly into the left side gallery (avoids the restrictive path through the fifth port of the pump and the cross-the-block passage). If you haven't purchased the rest of your fittings yet, you might consider the push-on fittings that Aeroquip and Earls offers, they're light, easy to install and bullet-proof. Steel braided stuff looks zoomy but it's a pain.

Did you try massaging the shifter linkage rod away from the fitting with a couple of cunningly placed bends? The shifter shaft in my T440 has about five bends in it and took a couple of hours to get right. There sure isn't spare room there.
