    Default Fresh Air At Last!

But for a few decals and a seat it's ready for the AARC.

    Default Congratulations

Nice looking car. I look forward to seeing more details at the ARRC.

    In the mean time I do have a couple of questions if you don't mind;

    1) What brand are those wheels?
    2) What size (8/10")?
    3) Where did you get them?
    4) Standard Van Diemen drive dimensions?

    Regards,
    Sean

Looking at the rear wing I'd guess they were BBS!

Great looking car btw. Can't wait to see it in person. Have you done a parking lot run yet?

    Sean (M)

The wheels are BBS magnesium, regular Van Diemen peg spacing and 8's and 10's. They came direct from BBS who are a mile or so away from my work.

No car park run just yet as I can't seem to get t the bottom of a rough, rich running motor. Any ideas? It runs the same with or without the Power Commander - very sooty smokey exhaust and can't hols a set rpm without missing and spluttering. For some odd reason it will not start from cold without a drop of fuel in thethrottle bodies. Also when I hook up the ingnition part of the Power Commander set up, motor will run for what seems like a full crank revolution then dies and will not start!?

Any help would be much appreciated. It's an '05 GSXR 1000.

    Thanks

    Ben

What do you know about the engine's history? For instance, do you know for sure that it ran well before? If so, then you can narrow down your search to changes you've made since then, such as wiring, fuel system delivery, etc.

Do you have a Suzuki dash that might provide codes?

It looks you've added an O2 sensor to your exhaust. I wonder if that might help you diagnose, or might be related to the problem.

I think a GSXR internet forum could be a good source.

    Good luck.

Ben, I'm no expert but it sounds like something is giving the ECU a bad signal & it's sending too much fuel. Like if it thinks the throttle is WFO or smething. Do you have the stock wiring harness & all the sensors hooked up?

Nice looking car.....looks very similar to my new Phoenix F1000...with same front wing, same style nose cone, side pods, and side strakes........very impressive work.

Call George Dean before he heads for the run-offs.
I'm pretty sure he has seen this before.

Default Check the Manifold pressure sensor

    Ben,

(I sent you an e-mail as well).

Do you have the manifold pressure sensor in place? it is a small unit attached to the back underside of the stock air box. A set of vacuum tubes connects all 4 throttle bodies and 'T's into this sensor. If you do not hook it up you will experience vacuum leak and the types of problems you are describing.

(George helped me sort this out on my engine a few weeks ago...)

    Sean

P.S. More BBS questions... Price? Weight? 6/8" available in late model Van Diemen offsets?

    Default Issues

Hey Ben, I was wondering if you tried to run w/o the power commander; all the stock stuff?
    Good luck, GC

    Thanks Glen.

I've tried everything I can think of and the problem is still there. I managed to find another wiring harness on ebay so that is the next step. I've got Friday off work and I'm not going to bed 'till it's running! Just hope it's not a motor issue that's all.

    Default fuel pressure?

What fuel pressure are you running? If you have your O2 sensor working, what are the readings?

Leave the powercommander off until you get it running right. If you don't do any kind of dyno testing you will probably do more harm than good with the PC.

If you have the stock dash, what are the FI codes? Who did your harness? George Dean is the expert on these and usually can diagnose the problem.

    Very nice looking car, BTW.
