Default In-car video: Stohr F1000 at Infineon

Thought you might like this nose camera angle of our GoPro Stohr F1000 on her maiden test day at Infineon on AUG 16. Driver, GoPro's Nicholas Woodman. We broke her in with Infinity Pro cars on the track...yikes! It was intense...those things come up on you like the devil...thankfully they are VERY loud which is a great safety boon. Even when you are looking for them they sneak up on you:

Special thanks to Team Auto Spa http://www.auto-spa.com of Infineon for making our first test day flawless....Steve, Rich and Lutrell are absolute pros and GoPro is fortunate to have their support.

And of course, thanks to everyone at Stohr and Stohr Cars for making such a wonderful car. Expectations obliterated.

Hi5 and many thanks - GoPro

Nice quality video. You "sound" as if the ride height is set just right. You scraped at the bottom of one of downhills. That's what it sounded like at least.

Yep...scraped the bottom just slightly in compression in T3 and bottom of T6...the right places. That was the stock setup...convenient!

We didn't make any adjustments from stock setup aside from re-assemble the rod ends to be fluid...ran great. So happy, happy.

    Thanks Stohr and Auto Spa!!!

How was this mounted and where was it mounted?
Just VHB tape to the unit, or to the waterproof case?
Are you trimming the case down if it is being used?

Thanks for the video. Gosh, that track configuration is really weird, skipping the normal turn 10 is a travesty! I still can't believe they run it that way.

    Default You think that's bad?

Josh,The IRL guys are so afraid of turn 10 they use the school chicane AND turn hard right just past the tower and don't even use turn 11! Jeeze, even the ALMS cars use the complete track and the FLY thru turn 10. Well Tony George would'nt want to see Dario upside down 3 weeks in a row now would he?

It strips the track of 3 great turns:

    T10
T11 (terrific turn in it's importance)

And gone is the ferrocious speed heading up into T2 as a result of the shortened front straight.

Personally I really like the technical "F1 moment" chicane of 9/9a, but losing 11 is like losing a good buddy. The short T11 is...hokey!

But how can I complain...it's still more fun than 99% of all other human activities!

Hi5 and see you dudes next week at the track! - GoPro

Mounted under the front nose using a prototype quick release mount we're releasing NOV 1.

You can acheive 99% of this same performance by 3M VHB doublesticking the side of the housing to the veritcal stabilizer (drop down) of your front wing. Our mounts use 3m VHB rubber tape to mount to the car...so you're getting the same holding power...no sweat.

Mounting on the side of the housing means no cutting of the bottom attach arm for the strap.

Whatever you do...NO ZIP TIES! That compresses the camera into the vibrating car...too much vibration. Zip ties = evil!

How do you control the camera? Can you use a remote or do you just start it running before leaving the pit?

Yep...just start it running before you leave the pits. Provided you are using Energizer Lithiums or rechargeable NiMH batteries you will get 1.5 - 2hrs of video recording. With a 2GB SD card you will get 56 minutes.

For those few of you that have had the vibration power-off problem -- we successfully tested our Motorsports HERO mounts on troublesome cars this past weekend at Infineon and it solved the problem. Very few cars are producing enough vibration to cause a problem with the camera (it's not class specific...rather it is car specific) ...but if yours does our NOV 1 release mounts will solve it. All they do is separate the camera from the car with a couple of miniature pivot arms (desirable anyway) and they disipate enough vibration that it's nothing but technicolor dreams from there on out.

I'll be posting video from this past weekend's race at Infineon this weekend...good times!

    Thanks! - GoPro
