    Default Stohr F1000 cooling

Now that there are a few of them running, I'm wondering what other folks have done about the cooling of their F1000. So far we have opened up the bodywork behind the radiator (per Stohr recommendation), sealed the radiator to force all of the air flow through it, and installed an electric fan. The last time out (Thunderhill in 90 degree weather) we were still running at about 230-240 for both water and oil temp.

We're thinking of opening up the bodywork behind the oil radiator and adding a spoiler in front of the water radiator exhaust to try to pull more air through it; anyone else have any ideas?

Have you added a .5" to .75" gurney to the rear of the bodywork? I suggested this for a customer's 1st gen Stohr that was having cooling issues a few years ago, and it helped a bunch. He just pop riveted them down to the flat area between the fender and the engine cover, right at the trailing edge of the bodywork. The idea is to create a negative pressure area where the air is exiting the bodywork at its trailing edge, thereby helping evacuate the engine bay and post-cooler areas. It worked great! Stan

    Default F1000 Cooling

Try the small wicker on the leading edge of the opening on the coolers. That is all we have done to Ken Tyrrell's car and others besides heat insulation on the oil hoses. We have seen H2O temps at 195 - 200 with track surface temps at 137 F and ambient at 100 F. Oil runs in the 240 range. Try Redline Water Wetter and a rad cap in the 18 lb range if you have not already. Also blow out the coolers with air as rubber etc. gets in the cooling fins.
