Didn't see this one posted in the previous 4 pages. This is one fast lap to say the least! Compared to Tom Duncan's CF, this lap is in Fast Forward mode. Notice the driver lifts going into T9. The fast guys don't.

I was there for the F1 demo and standing at the top of the hill by the Corkscrew you could hear every shift around the track except turn 5. What a show an F1 race would be at Laguna Seca! Like someone once told me about their experience driving a CART car-"you get to the next corner a whole lot SOONER!"
OK gang, I have been through this thread looking for recent in car from Mosport and if it s here I don't see it.
So, does anyone have any recent in car from Mosport to share ?
Search Formula Ford on video.google.com and you'll find severall across Google & YouTube. There is at least one OFFC/FormulaTour1600 driver who posts regularly...

Awww, come on guys, it's so simple. Maybe you need a refresher course. Hey! It's all ball bearings nowadays.
Hey thanks for showing us that one of VIR! Whew looks like you really gotta get into a rhythm with one turn just leading into another.
The Pinto's he was racing at the start and the end seem to be just as fast? Maybe it was the 8" & 10" hard tires not sticking in the corner?

the pinto in front of him at the start (directly in front) was me!!!!! I got stuck behind chris burke who's shift linkage broke and left him coasting in nuetral as such i lost a bunch of positions on the start. I did manage to catch and re pass doug within a lap or two. The pinto vs. zetec power seems pretty close. However the 8&10s are at a major disadvantage. In testing i was all over the big tire cars and i was slow in practice due to handling problems.

The 8's and 10's blow but I was having a problem with my car as my backmarker team mate was almost as quick as me. One of the biggest non equalization problems if you watch the video is that I get killed coming out of oak tree onto the back straight with the spec gears. I was good in and even getting off but with the big tall spec first gear and spec running gear within the car, i got smoked by all the FC's out of that turn bad. I've got no go compared to the FC's from a slow start.

Here's a video taken from a old Caldwell D9 FF1600 at a SCCA time trial. It's my best laps but includes the warm up and cool off laps so it is a bit long. (1:49.255 best) It's my first effort with my new Samsung 1GB flash camcorder and included remote cam. http://video.google.com/videoplay?do...q=FF1600&hl=en
First time out....I was a little rusty!!!!

Run 4 was my best - 48.633. Front spring preload change helped understeer. 64 MPH at end of slalom according to Bill Cook but I'm not sure which run. Seems correct as my gears charts say my shift from 2 to 3 @ 6000 = 58 MPH which occured near slalom cone 4 in run 4. The first runs I let it hit the limiter way too long.

Here are my lastest efforts: If you've never tried a hillclimb I can't tell you how "interesting" they can be. Perhaps the videos will help. First is 6 time SCCA Solo National Champ George Bowland. The second is myself in a vintage Caldwell FF1600. http://video.google.com/videoplay?do...e+hillclimb%22 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3aJJoUMSQhw
Anybody know where I can get some in car video from Road Atlanta before the Dip was removed. {Don should have leveled the padock instead, don't you think?}
Thanks,

I will answer myself. This should get you to IMSA 85 at RA. I hope this works.

Talent usually ends up in front, but fun goes from the front of the grid all the way to the back.
Finally got around to editing and posting my Thunderhill video. I ran out of memory, as I forgot to delete the old stuff off the memory card, so I only got the first few laps.

Thanks Tom. BTW, watched the race at WGI and Bill Valet drove an amazing race. The marshalls were waiting for the uproar after posting results due to pace car error at restart. Anywho, great race to watch and thanks for posting links to the videos.
PS: if Bill is reading this, many thanks to his dad for helping me belt in my FC and other tips/assistance.
Enjoy the Track,
Steven

Was 99/00 FC, now am Just Waiting. Racing is life...
Here is some video from Sunday's FF-F5-FV race at the Pocono Double National. Precisely at the one minute whistle on the false grid it started to rain. Not enough rain nor enough time to change to wet tires, but enough to make things very interesting for the first few laps.
Despite the conditions Davey D'Addario managed to set a new lap record during the race, so congrats to him and also to Joe Parsons for his win.
I have edited the video down, sorry for the choppy editing, still trying to get the hang of this. The video shows my son Bill Valet and Larry Hendrickson going back and forth for 5th place.
Take care.

Here are a few onboard videos from hillclimbs I've run in 2008. This is onboard a 1970 Caldwell D9 FF1600. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WMDSQIs-mY8 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SD7lOYG3RsM http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3aJJoUMSQhw
Hi Stan,
I've never run a hillclimb. But what with all those boulders, trees, and drop offs at the edge of the asphalt, I'd imagine you have to approach a run under the philosophy that you're not going to go 10/10ths. Would that be right?
If so, how do you maintain that less-than-flat-out mantra? Do you ever take a corner at 10/10ths? Roughly how hard do you drive?
Best regards,
Jim

I wish I understood everything I know.
Jim,
Actually, after driving this same car for over 20 years, I do work up to nearly 10/10s over the course of the weekend. I come from over 35 years of autocross and so I have a feel for what the limit is. Once I know the hill well and have felt out the levels of grip, I pretty much go for it, the last couple of runs on Sunday. I do feel like a certain level of maturity is required. Aircraft pilots have a saying, "There are bold pilots and old pilots but very few old bold pilots." I'm 59. It is pretty exciting.
Anyone have any good video from the Runoffs they would like to share?

Was looking around in Youtube for some racing video and found this neat in car footage of a Formula Ford race from Donnington:

Skip ahead to about the minute and a half mark for the actual start of the race. Part 2 only shows passes of 2 backmarkers but if you want to see it, scan the right margin for it.

That explains the 4 wheel off thread that was started. I can't believe all the crap on the track, that had to make the next race fun.
Hey gang-
There is a ton of great in-car video on the Apex Speed Channel at motorrev.klipz.tv. A great example is this video from Blackhawk Farms on a drying track.
Go to http://motorrev.klipz.tv/view_video....10e0353e0836d8 and check the video out.

Thanks to all the ApexSpeed members who have contributed videos...they're great!

Here's a little four-minute "music video" that covers my 2007 season. You'll see bits of Laguna Seca, Sears Point (Infineon Raceway), Thunderhill... and various other cars. Thanks to everyone who appears in the video; it was fun getting passed by you.
