Ok ... Although I know I will catch flack for this. I cant resist posting the pics from my recent transport of the Lola T440 frame I needed to get from Maryland to NY. It worked!

Its not the speed, its the sudden stop....
Innovative to say the least........
Are you related to Red Green? Nice job not even any duct tape
The only flack I would give you is that you are driving an Aztec.
<just kidding.

Nothing at all wrong with the transport of that frame including the stop in Atlantic City on the way home, except the cost of parking at the Motorsports Show.

I would have put it on top of the Aztec, point forward, and transported the bodywork by actually installing it - that would have been cool!
I did carry my Merlyn Mk6 frame on top of the roof rack of my Tahoe a couple of times, back about 1995 or so.

You have found a way to distract people from the fact that you drive a Pontiac Aztec!
ok. ok. I redeem myself slightly, I borrowed the Aztek! But for as ugly as it is, it fits alot of stuff. I didnt mention that there was 4 rims, 4 steel rims with rains, 2 sets of lola bodywork and a 30 gallon tote of parts INSIDE!
And for putting it on top, thought of it but really would have preferred to have a roof rack for that which I couldnt procure in time, so I borrowed the cargo tray.
I was trying to avoid tolls so I didnt want a trailer and it worked.
Gary, Did you pay to park? They gave me a wave through ! Maybe it was teh cool setup! Or that im cute. Who knows :P See ya sunday.

Dani:
If one of the others on this board made the 'maybe because (you) are cute' comment, they would be roundly criticized for it!
But I say, flaunt it if ya got it! save that fee for new spark plugs..
(Next time put the chassis on the other way for lower CG for the roll hoop)
When my crew chief was looking for a good, low cost car to replace his aging Ford Explorer, I stumbed on some Azteks for sale. Pricing was lower then most cars of that same vintage with the same miliage.
Yes, it is obvious, they are discounted due to the "Ugly Factor", but I got to say I'm impressed by the value. It's loaded, with AWD, a V-6 that has no problems towing an open trailer, a cool interior, and much more usable interor space then my Lincoln Avaitor. Try finding a non Korean, Loaded, 2000ish V-6 AWD, LITE SUV, with less then 30K Miles, With Ext'd Warrantte for less then $10,000.

The car truck van SUV thing everyone loves to hate

Hi Dani: So...have you found time to fish since starting the Lola rebuild?
I appreciate the levity Glad some got a good chuckle out of it!
(I wanted it the other way on teh car but it would have broken the window if I faced the roll bar towards the front.)
I have just begun sorting the pile of nuts, bolts, parts (some which I couldnt identify) this past weekend. Its going to be a long road to April. Out of it I think will come one good car and lots of spares I have been told I will have no excuse not to race it to its limits, since I shouldnt worry about ripping off a corner but I dont think I buy that completely.
Fishing? whats that? Im working too hard to make money to pay for it to fish!

If only you could have found a roof rack...
You could have put the body work on, leaned out the window with the video camera, and presto chango... Instant wind tunnel

Ha, ha. Azzcracks...
Once transported a completely parted Lola T342 chassis in a rented minivan. (Don't remember whether it was a Windstar or a Caravan.) Removed the front passenger seat, middle captain's chair and rear bench. Chassis nosed right up into the passenger footwell; engine and tranny fit behind the left-side middle captain's chair, and the rest was settled in and around the spaceframe.
Funny part was, as the Lola's spaceframe took up the whole passenger side of the van, my navigator sat directly behind me in the left-side captain's chair, out of sight for most of the twenty-hour round trip.
Had i thought of Scala's idea i would have gone with her LOL

You would have had alot of parts on your lap thankfully it was not a 24 hour drive! Just 300 miles (side trip included).
Im glad that Im not the only one who has thought up interesting ways to get parts large and small home!
