?- is that what the article said
11/27/06 According to AutoRacing1.com sources, there is a rumor going around that the Cooper Tires Championship Series FF2000 new car, which was a detuned Dallara F3 car, will not be raced by the series in 2007. Apparently, Champ Car was uneasy with the prospect of the slick Dallaras ($200,000 annual budget - running on the same tracks as the Atlantics (Million dollar annual budget), and suddenly the FF2000 series was unable to confirm many pre-negotiated dates with Champ Car, including Toronto. FF2000 was made aware that the Dallara was not welcome at Champ Car events. Accordingly, the Cooper series will announce a schedule within the next week using the Van Diemen chassis which has been the standard chassis for the series. Champ Car does not mind the (older) Van Diemen running at their events.
Previously, FF2000 was told by Champ Car that the Dallaras would have to run lap times 4 seconds a lap slower than the Atlantics. Accordingly, the FF2000 series planned on using a 180 hp version of the Ford Zetec (as opposed to a 215 hp F3 spec motor, which would have made the cars faster, more nimble, better looking and much, much less expensive to purchase and run than the Atlantic cars). The series will apparently try to run with the IRL and IndyPro Series on road courses in 2008 with a full spec Dallara with proper F3 horsepower.
Champ Car puts the kibosh on FF2000 Dallara UPDATE Being told from high levels within Champ Car that there is no truth to this rumor.
We will postpone the competition debut until 2008 that is true. However it has nothing to do with Champcar,or anyone with Champcar. It to me is just a business desicion that we have made ,and I hope it will become clear why in the next month.FMI will have it's 2007 schedule out on Thursday, and we will run our exsisting chassis and rules. There will be 5 double weekends.I will say that I'm sorry for all the folks that had made plans to be part of a fantastic package in 2007.See you at PRI?
Thanks Brad and/or Jon.
might as well drop a link to an article about last seasons cooper series champ

Awww, come on guys, it's so simple. Maybe you need a refresher course. Hey! It's all ball bearings nowadays.
I've suspected for years that Steve Johnson (ex SCCA glorious leader and now ChampCar Grand Poobah) hates the FC/F2000 car. In the age of Fox News standards this'll rate as confirmation...

So Jason...
Is '07 the year we see a pair of Byers dominating the Cooper Series?
Mike,
Not this year, he is just starting out in a club ford.
Just shooting from the hip but lets look at it this way. ChampCar is owned by the owner of PI and Cosworth. Panoz owns Van Dieman and Elan. Elan is building the new Champ Car, the Dallara FF2000 car (even though it is old) would out date the Van Dieman FF2000 car. Dallara plays in the IRL!
It will be interesting to see how this unfolds, Remember behind every rumor is some truth!!
It was the butler at Road atlanta with the wishbone....no, the spoon..... on the grassy infield.
The only clue here is: Everybody has it and everybody wants it and there's never enough to go around. Often refered to as the Benji.......... though all I have is a Wash....
Promoters are often the ones who work with support series - not sanctioning bodies..... Though there are politics....promoter will take anybody - as long as you have the cake...
Oh - and yea - I know where there is a great Zetec for sale to run in the cooper and Hankook series for next year!!
