Thanks Keith, I use Pegasis fairly often, I am probably just going to use the muffler this one time so I was hoping that a member might have one fairly cheap that they are not using anymore....

The EMRA event is 86 decibles and you will need a substantial muffler to get down that low. I'm bussy adapting a basic car muffler for my Zetec as we speak.

Last year it wasn't enough on the car we were running but, the EMRA guy had a real bone up his *ss for us and was very unpleasant and I think he was just busting balls on the evil open wheel cars. I think it sounds very restrained with the coast muffler but 86dbs is toyota camry land. I'm going the the nukelear option and am putting a big car muffler on the back of my car as I don't want to go through that again.

I just picked up a Vector FC that I want to bring to Lime Rock. It came with a Supertrapp and was raced at Waterford where I believe the dB limit is 75 but I don't know where its measured from.
Anyone who's raced at Waterford know if 75dB there translates into 83 dB at 50 feet behind the car in the paddock at Lime Rock?

Did that car you were running happen to be a certain Hazelnut's rf97 (my current car)?? I was about to pony up for a coast fab, but if that didnt work...Originally Posted by Douglas Kniffin

we picked up the "cherry bomb" from a local napa between sessions and attached it with a bunch of fittings, As I recall it was run parrallel to the rear wing, which it was also strapped too with bungee cords and safety wire. And yes it looked just as ridiculous as you think it does. But it was so far over the ultra low limit with standard muffling devices it was all we could do.
Awww, come on guys, it's so simple. Maybe you need a refresher course. Hey! It's all ball bearings nowadays.
Sound at Waterford is taken at the property line on the far side of a tall sound barrier. A couple of years ago I did some sound testing in an FC on an SAE sound pad. Any muffler that recorded below 100 dBA at 50' WOT on the pad passed sound at Waterford. Don't know how that translates to the Lime Rock spec.
Thats awesome! Ambrose is lending me his coast fab unit, I am going to pick up a cherry bomber as back up just in case.... If it turns out I dont need it, I will throw it on the wife's X5..Originally Posted by HazelNut
In terms of how they check, it is no where near as formal or scientific as the SCCA. A jack*ss sits at start finish with a radio shack handheld unit and holds it over the wall while you go past start finish.

Guys, do you think that a super trapp will not get it quiet enough for EMRA at lime rock? If I put a more restrictive car muffler will I have to do anything with the motor-jetting etc......Thanks for the help!
The best part of the whole weekend once we get past the muffler issues is going to be watching the captain of Fat Boi Racing, Charles Spinelli, duke it out in a grudge match with Len Amato. That show should be worth any muffler hell we all have to go through.

this is what we call a high jacking of a thread....
maybe that was brendan spelling, maybe not. anyway, based on some very similar experience already related in this thread, i can tell you a supertrap will not pass EMRA sound. you must have a muffler or the decibel gods will rain havoc on your weekemd. secondly, i think i might prefer to watch, rather than race, based on the smack previously posted. remember that winter is a long time to wear the pink hat of shame.
Steal a muffler (Or two) off Grandpa's Buick, any you MAY be quite enough. It will be intresting to see how Anthony does with my Coast unit on his car.
I'm really surprised that the Track Side Race Store does not sell mufflers. The local "Thrush" Dealer in town must of sold at least 50 units that weekend. Just to tell you how quite we needed to be, there was an Escort out there with 2 mufflers strapped to it's rear bumper.
I'm leaving B**bs home, so if anyone needs a hand, let me know...

I was just at one of our famous "board meetings" which are held at "gentlemen's clubs" and brendan spent a solid hour in the champagne room with his favorite fluffer and it still didn't get him as wound up as pounding on finelli at the track. He is very jealous that you are getting to duke it out with the co-captain of fatboi racing.
For all who are curious, the unofficial home of fatboi racing is Charles' myspace page: http://www.myspace.com/finellibaby

In defense of my Fat Boy teammate, "Brendan got around him, I wouldn't call it a pounding. Maybe you should put him in the #13 car so we can, "...settle all the family's business."
i spent any remaining cash I had at delilahs on a cute little blonde stripper with a huge pair of perfect implants
