    Default eBay ~ DB-6? Frame

Not sure, but it looks like a Swift (or copy) frame on eBay:

    eBay Frame

    Pretty sure not a Swift DB-1, DB-3, SE-1, SE-3 or Reynard 85F by the front suspension mount. DB-6? RF-85/86?

It looks like a DB-1 with some modifications in the lower engine bay. Front is set up for rocker arms, not pushrods, so it is not a DB-6. It looks to be in great condition, an interesting find.

My guess is a Van Diemen RF85/86.

    Default RF-85/86 Frame

Thanks for the follow up...RF-85/86 was one of my guesses as well...Might make a good start for a F1000 project...

I have an 85 VD 1600. My chassis is different from the one in the picture but the differences are "minor" based on memory. The biggest two are the high cockpit front/rear bars which I don't have and the tube from the front roll hoop (mine is rectangular not round tubing). There may be other differences in the structure over the driver's shins area.

Edit to add: My car also does NOT have the tubes below the engine bay area.

The RF86 frame in my basement has very different construction in the rollbar/rear bulkhead area. Also, the front rocker pivot tube hangs below a rectangular center tube and has substantial gusseting. The VD fuel cell cover is only pinched-in at the base. The cell cover on the ebay frame is tapered for the full height, suggesting a rad mounted in the engine bay. My guess is a Swift copy.

    Default DB1 for Comparison

Here is my DB1 for comparison. The resolution is reduced a lot for upload. The shock mount area on the Ebay frame seems to have a round or oval tube up to the dash hoop, which is a difference.

I would bet that this is a one off homebuilt copy. Modelled after the DB1 with some differences. Not a VD or even english built swift. How many times have you had someone look at your car and say "I could make that!" This looks like someone did just that and made one but never finished the project. Brian.
