    Default 89 Reynard Radiator question...

    Howdy strangers

Is it possible the ol' blue and white Reynard may see the light of day this year??? We shall wait and see.

I read somewhere that some VD radiators may fit the 89 Reynard... what years will fit? Also, what modifications are needed to make them fit? Is it just the mounting points or is there more to it. Thanks in advance...

    Default whoo hoo

Glad to see you are still around!

Can't help with your rad question, but still glad you are on this board.

    Rick

If you post the dimensions of the Reynard rad, then someone can measure the VD rads or other rads, to see if there is a fit or a close match.

Also need to post where the inlet and outlets are located.

    Hey Rick,

    The dims are as follows:

    Length: 19 1/2"

    Height: 7 1/2"

    Width: 2 1/2"

Both inlet and outlet are 2" to center from top and 2" to center from bottom on the thin side(width)

I think the 90-93 VD rads fit, and have heard they may be cheaper when purchased new... just trying to sort my options...

To be honest... I am hoping for the next RA race in July... but probably will have to wait a little after that (ARRC maybe )

    Default Reynard radiators

I have a pair of new aluminum radiators for the Reynard--on the shelf, ready to go.

    YOO MAN!
On my car I had to make a little bigger can to mount the VD rads, that and the hose ends had to be clamped down a little more since the VD outlets were a bit smaller than the Reynard tubes but it held fine.

Get that thing back on the track man!

    Default Rads

Jamie, good to hear you’re still out there…

I attached a Word document with a CAD drawing I did that gives the dimensions of my SF89 rads (should be the same as yours), if that’s of any help.

I’ve had some rads ordered from Griffin in SC since Oct ’05 so if you order from them expect a serious wait. …Great price though...

Hope to see you guys at the track SOON…

    Jamie,

I have an original 87 Reynard (Serck) radiator that's got a few cracked tubes. Good for a re-core. Yours for shipping costs...

SteveG... Very kind offer, but i think we are going to go with new radiators

The old ones are in really bad shape. About 90% of the fins are flat and when we pulled them out of the car after the blown motor, we found they were very corroded. We have had overheating problems every time out, and I think it may have contributed to the hole in the block The blown motor sidelined us for a long time, and we want to make sure everything possible is done to help prevent it again. We have already picked up a soft touch msd, we are working on repositioning the shift lever( Not close enough to me for driving position which may have caused a few missed shifts ) We just want things to be right this time. Thanks for all the input. See you all soon

If Jamie doesn't want the radiator, can any other 87-91 Reynard owners make real use of it? Contact me, either PM or email, it's yours for shipping costs or beer...

Good to hear from you, Jamie.

I agree with your approach. You'll have a better chance of enjoying your race weekends if you do all you can to be ready. You'll have peace of mind and hopefully smooth weekends.
