    Default TIGA FF Axles

    Hello to all,

1977 TIGA FF - broke a half shaft/axle. It has the old original style CV joints. I see pictures of TIGA's converted to modern CV joints but so far, no clear path on what is involved, process and parts involved.

Any solid suggestions would be very much appreciated.

If by "old original style" CV joints you mean straight-plunge 23 spline axles, you are out of luck. Easy fix. 4 new 33 spline fluted CV joints (call Scotty Young) and have 2 new axles made. There are quite few outfits in CA that supply the off road crowd that can make axles any length you need for reasonable cost (unless you want them gun-drilled.)

I have a 1980 Tiga FFA that Craig Taylor, who has since retired, converted to a formula mazda axle system. Scott Young worked with him and would be who I'd also recommend you contact.

If you want to go all in you could have these guys make new uprights with any bearing dims needed to accomplish a best-to-you solution. I put a set of the front uprights on my S2.

I know they have 78' and newer, not sure if 77' is same though looks like a 77' in photo.

Ballpark was about 2k for the fronts, so assume a bit more $ for the larger rears, and I had some custom work done for rotor/hat upgrade. Really nice, they digitally scan the OE parts and replicate the critical dims for the billet parts. I vapor blasted them to take the tool marks and shine off and they look the part on my S2....some added piece of mind really, 1980 was a long time ago!
