    Default Upright Rod End

    Gents;

    Is a rod end with a ball bore of 0.3125" (3/8") and shank size of 0.4375" (7/16") too light weight for a front upright to A-frame? Currently, I am at 0.4375" and 0.500".

    Rick I assume you mean A-arm, and I'd have to say it depends. Is the rod end supporting the weight of the car, or merely a link in the suspension? Also, how is it oriented. As always, a picture or two will make this much easier to answer. I have many 3/8 x 3/8 rod ends that connect the links to the frame pickup points in my DSR suspension, but on the outboard locations at the upright, on the lower, I have a fairly large spherical bearing with the bore vertical. The shock/spring connect to this lower control arm. The upper has a 7/16 shank, 3/8 bore rod end with the bore also vertically aligned.

    I am converting from the factory upper A-frame single shear attachment link to a Gyrodynamics upright and steering arm assembly that will permit rapid camber adjustments.



    The steering arm secures the link rod end in double shear.








    The hardware will be AN, the rod end will be Aurora.

    Four Atlantic cars here, various ages all with double shear 3/8. Three through sphericals one 3/8 by 7/16 rod end.
