    Default High oil pressure

I have a Van Diemen FC Pinto. Rebuilt Titan Series 2 oil pump. Fresh engine. I am getting extremely high oil pressure both on the gauge in the car as well as with a separate oil pressure gauge straight to the block. I have backed off the oil pressure valve adjustment quite a ways and still pegging the gauge at modest revs.
Running 5w -30 synthetic and had no issues prior to rebuilding the oil pump.
Any ideas on what might be going on?

Any change in oil oil lines to and from the filter head?

I pulled the valve and checked it and reinstalled. Seemed ok. No changes to oil lines.

IIRC, a large contributor to low oil pressure in the pinto are the leaky cam bearings. Have you checked to see if the head is getting oil? Maybe a bearing rotated and blocked supply to the cam.

Maybe time to look at the engine. Who did the rebuild? High pressure since first start up? Any “improvements” to oiling system?
wrong bearing orientation blocking galley? Pump relief binding?

Or the rebuilt pump. Was it tested off the engine?

Thanks for everyone's input. It turned out that I was too conservative on the pressure relief valve, or it may have been stuck. I adjusted it through its range and then got it to 60 to 70psi cold.
