    Default Butane torch recommendations?

    Ugh.....

I keep one of these in the toolbox for soldering etc. Occasionally it gets pressed into kitchen duty (Creme Brule for example). I am tired of crappy $20 Ronson junk that doesn't last. But there are 1000s of different models on Amazon, so no idea where to start. Any recommendations as to one that will last?

    cheers,
    bt

in my experience, they all suck. a combination of hard to fill, hard to light, etc. Agree, the ronson stuff is especially bad, as is the Bernz-o-matic. You'd think with those names they'd at least try, but no...

I bought a harbor freight unit, my only regret is that the neat ronson flame holder (sort of a ceramic heater) that I used to use to shrink tubing in the field no longer fits.

IMHO, buy whatever, but make sure you get the attachments you want.
