    Default Compomotive 3 Piece Barrels

My RF81 included 6 good wheels and two damaged ones and I would like to complete the second set. 1 outer was damaged and both inners but I have a spare outer. I need the two inners. The two center sections are fine. Anyone have any spare barrels laying around their shop? It doesn’t appear that current Compomotive sells replacement parts.

    Following.....
I ended up with a bunch of 3 piece wheels from several different manufacturers including Compmotive, it would be good to know where repair parts can be found.

I have a pair of inners, To make a 9 inch wheel, I think. I also just replaced my fronts, So I don't really need those.
Lee R sold me some Mad In wheels. Their website says they can supply Compomotive barrels. The wheels I have don't interchange with Compomotive, different bolt diameter.

I think I've heard that either or both Keizer and Jongbloed can make compomotive wheel halves, so you might want to look there if other sources have dried up.

So I took one of them apart tonight. Interesting in that one of my damaged spares has lots of RTV on the inside of the rim, the other has none on the inside but “gobs” was used between the mating surfaces. Splitting that one was fun. It appears the oring that was used was really square with a lip on one side. Since I doubt I will find anything with that cross section can I go back in with just a round one?

It probably was round when first assembled many years ago, but over time it has taken a set and become square I would guess. So I would say use another new one that is round. I only put RTV in the corners where the rim halves meet the center after the wheel has been assembled and hardware torqued up.

In my experience, ANY between-the-segments O-rings are troublesome. They always take a set (stress-relax) over a few years at most and leak. The much more reliable technique is to assemble and torque the wheel fasteners with the pieces dry and clean with no O-ring, and then use RTV (I use Dow 832) in the crevices between the components. Unless the RTV gets physically damaged, wheels sealed that way never, in my experience, leak.

I thought I remembered you mentioning something like that and I couldn't find it. As usual, you have probably forgotten more things that I ever remembered!

If you look into Jongbloed wheels in Morgan Hill in Calif. https://www.jongbloedracingwheels.com they maybe be able to make custom rim half's.
