    but nut over snapped bolt

    fill nut with MIG weld

    remove

    Or dremel a small slot in it and use a screw driver.

    The point is it should be removable.

    Thanks all.

    I think that there was dissimilar metals involved, hence the reason the head snapped. Screw slot would have been difficult to make as it would have had to be below the surface of the rib. And I did not want to apply heat as the rib appeared to be composite with a bonded nut.

    I ended up using a carbide bit on a Dremel to make a started hole, step drill, then re-tap.
