    Default Formula Car Calendar

I am trying to put together a formula car calendar for 2024 and eventually offer them for sale to the community if the interest is there. At this point, I am looking for photo submissions for the potential calendar. If you are a driver, car owner, photographer, etc and have high quality photos you’d like to potentially be featured in the calendar, please send them my way. I am primarily looking for photos of FV/FST, FF, F6, FC, FE2, FB, FA. All I ask is that you are the owner of the photos you submit or get proper written permission from the owner of the photos.

Please submit photos via email to rockbeauchamp@gmail.com. I will be taking submissions until Sunday, 11/27. My goal would be to have these in time for Christmas for stocking stuffers, gifts, etc.

I will update with more details if there are sufficient photo submissions and enough interest to justify moving forward.

Do the photos have to be from 2023, or how far back?

I’d say recent but not necessarily from 2023. Maybe 5 years give or take? No one has done one of these in a while so a few years worth of photos should be fine!

    Thanks, Mike.

I did shoot the 2017 Runoffs at Indy, but mostly one driver whose Dad’s a friend of ours — though there’s a good selection.

After a lifetime in publishing, and selling image uses, one thing I’ll offer… anyone that says “My photographer said it’s okay to use these,” that needs to be in writing for your protection. No idea of your experience here, just throwing that down.

My typical question to myself would normally be “How is this good for my business?” But in this case, you seem like a good guy so I’d support the project for that, and for my life's passion in racing.

Photography having morphed as it has, I suspect other part-timers will just be happy to be in print — especially if you credit them and particularly their websites. No matter what you do, I would recommend only one person does all the image prep and color for consistency, and know that when printers supply that it’s typically on the fly and not to very high standards.

Best, and let me know if older images are okay. For what it's worth, though only a tiny percentage of my racing work ever got scanned, I’d probably have enough to fill the entire calendar if more of a “Formula Car History” concept. In that case, I’d even offer competent art files to the printer — and I think your market may prefer that concept over recent and local images anyway.

You don't want to be picky with the age of Eric's photos, they are all likely spectacular.

There’s also THAT head-on photo of the FRP FC cars going into turn one at the Glen from several years ago.

(likely permission would be from someone at FRP)

Glad to see this getting some traction.

Rock’s a great guy and really passionate about racing, and is only doing this as a clear extension of that.

I almost regret my long post above, as it could be read that I had already fulfilled this project. We kicked around ideas for 2025 mostly, and will continue to. But for now, I hope he’s getting plenty of more-current work than what I have, or am likely to while on my lengthening photo sabbatical.

I am willing to comp photo prep regardless. So as long as an image is sharp (unless not, in being artsy and cool), don’t worry about exposure or color or question yourself on quality, I think I can speak for Rock in encouraging submitting it anyway.

I got a number of quality submissions, big thank you to all of you that submitted. Unfortunately, I don’t think I received a calendar’s worth of submissions.

Due to that and a number of other things being put on my plate in the last few weeks, I’ll be putting this project on the back burner until next year. Hopefully with a better head start we can get some more submissions next year.
