    Default Speed Bleeder question

Seems like a speed bleeder might solve a tricky slave cylinder bleeding issue, but I have a question. The threads come with sealant applied. When I re-use the bleeder screw do I need to refresh the sealant? If so, is there a recommended sealant? Thanks!

    Speed bleeders suck.

Get a brake bleed bottle from Pegasus.

    Attach to bleeder
    Open bleeder
Pump pedal till no bubbles come out.
    Close bleeder

Interesting. I've put them on every set of calipers I've had for more than 20 years with no issues. I even built a setup to bleed all 4 at the same time.

What makes you say they suck?

I've never re-sealed mine and they work fine.

    Default Earls speed bleeders

I actually prefer the earls speed bleeder as they use a spring loaded brass plunger and do not rely on any thread sealant. Have used them on multiple cars for many years with no issues.

I replace rather than reuse. They aren't very expensive, and it gives me peace of mind to replace them.

I use a Gatorade bottle with a wire hanger hook and surplus hose. One man bleeding for 30 years and no problems.

I bleed (and replace fluid) on everything this way including our street vehicles. The trick to make this work is to have the bleed line go up from the bleed screw before going downward into the bottle. That prevents air from being sucked back into the system on the release stroke. Currently I'm using an old quart milk bottle to bleed into.

An unbroken fluid column does prevent air entrainment. Until the hose pops off the nipple mid-stroke. Speed bleeders avoid that problem.
